Wood ashes are one of the cheapest and available fertilizers. It is used not only for improvement of the soil, but also for pest control of kitchen garden. Ashes contain calcium, potassium, iron, copper, sulfur, pine forest and molybdenum. And, above all – in wood ashes there is no chlorine of which many garden cultures are afraid.

1. Wood ashes need to be brought in the soil skillfully. It is not recommended to mix it with superphosphate, nitrogen mineral fertilizers and bird's dung. The efficiency of ashes increases at its sharing with compost, peat and humus. In this case ashes should be brought on the soil superficially, and then to close up rake. Later it is possible to add organic fertilizers and to dig over the soil. Ashes are most valuable complex microfertilizer. If on one square meter to bring 70 grams of wood ashes, then the need of plants for pine forest which often is not enough in sandy soils will be completely provided.
2. The ashes brought in the soil work much more effectively than any other potash fertilizer. Only one kilogram of the brought ashes will allow to increase potatoes harvest by 8-10 kilograms. At the same time in tubers the number of content of starch sharply increases. To effectively use this natural fertilizer under cabbage and cucumbers which do not transfer large amount of chlorine. Ashes protect any grade of cabbage from defeat by Kyla and black foot.
3. Wood ashes are suitable for cultivation of all vegetable cultures. On 100 square meters of the earth 10 kilograms of ashes which are recommended to be brought in the spring or in the fall under redigging (on sandy, peaty or sandy – in the spring, loamy and clay soils – in the fall) are required. And effect of this fertilizer continues within three years.
4. It is possible to use ashes as fertilizing. When planting seedling add it to each hole on two tablespoons. Under squash, cucumbers and bush pumpkins it is necessary to bring one glass of ashes on square meter under redigging. Under pepper, tomatoes and eggplants bring three glasses of this fertilizer on square meter, when landing seedling – ashes handful in each hole. To get rid of cruciferous flea beetle, cabbage fly and onions fly, mix in equal proportions ashes with tobacco dust, you opudrit plants at the rate of one glass on meter.
