How to calculate the number of lamps

Housekeeping Hits: 128

To define the number of lamps sufficient for lighting of the specific room, it is possible by means of simple calculations. For this purpose it is enough to know key parameters of the room and characteristic of the used lamps. Also some reference materials which can easily be found in the Internet will be necessary for calculations.

It is required to you

Instruction

1. For a start define what illumination (E) is sufficient for your room. It can be done empirically (for acc«mmodation spaces) or to use tables of the standards developed for rooms of different function (educational audiences, rooms with the computer equipment, etc.).

2. Calculate room space (S), by multiplication of its length (a) on width (b). It is also necessary to know height of the room (h1) and height of rated surface (for example, tables in audience – h2). Then, using information provided in catalogs of producers of the light equipment find value of luminous flux (Joint venture) for lamps which are going to be used in this room. Then substitute the found values of sizes in formula for definition of the index of the room: S/(a+b) * (h1-h2).

3. Further find value of the safety factor (Kz) suitable for your room which depends on set of factors in reference books: extents of pollution of the room, frequency of maintenance of the lamp and intensity of its use. As a rule, its value is in range from 1.2 to 2. Specify what quantity of lamps is available in one lamp (n).

4. Also in specially developed tables find values of coefficients of reflection of floor, ceiling and walls in your room. Knowing these values and value of the index of the room, by means of tables for calculation of illumination for different types of lamps, define utilization coefficient (U). Now you have all necessary data for calculation of number of lamps for the following formula: N=(S*Кз*E) / (U*n*Sp).
