How to calculate ventilation system

Before going behind acquisition of components for the future ventilation system, it is very important to execute all necessary calculations. Calculation of ventilation system allows not only to save on rather expensive materials and engineering devices, but also to provide its full-fledged working capacity.

1. Key parameter which you first of all need to calculate for future ventilation system ─ is its performance by air. For the choice of this parameter calculate two values of air exchange: by the number of the people who are constantly living in rooms and on frequency rate.

2. For calculation of air exchange for frequency rate use formula L=n x S x H (where L – the performance of ventilation system, n – the normalized ventilation rate accepted for premises equal 1, S – the floor area, H – their height).

3. Execute calculation of performance of ventilation system for the number of people on the following formula: L=N x Lnorm (where N ─ the number of the people living in rooms, Lnorm ─ the normalized air consumption indicator on one person for premises of equal 20 m3/hour).

4. Select the fan or the incoming installation according to the received value of performance of future ventilation system if you are going to use it. When choosing the fan surely consider the size of pressure loss of the air in system caused by its extent.

5. If you plan that on ventilation system to your premises the air which is warmed up up to the optimum temperature will move, choose heater for its equipment. When choosing heater consider the performance of ventilation system which you have already calculated, and the desirable temperature of the air given to rooms.

6. Having data on the performance of ventilation system and power of heater for its equipment, start design of airdistributing network.

7. Having drawn the scheme of your premises on paper, trace on it the locations of air ducts, surely having designated places of their bends and exit point of the given air. The received draft scheme of ventilation system will allow you to pick up correctly elements for its equipment (adapters, splitters, rotary elements, grids or diffusers).

8. On technical characteristics of the chosen fan, determine the working pressure of vent system and its noise level by diameter and level of branching of the projected air ducts.
