The electric counter is device for accounting of the consumed electric power. Counters happen three types: one-rate, two-tariff and three-tariff. The consumer has the right to install himself any model of the electric meter, but to independently remove the old device and to install new it is strictly forbidden and can lead to big penalties from the supplying company. Therefore all actions should be coordinated.

Instruction
1. Buy the metering device which will conform to your requirements for payment of the electric power. Counters with one tariff consider the consumed electric power during the entire period without time of day. Two-tariff devices allow to consider energy consumption in day and night time. Payment is made on two tariffs where night is much cheaper. Three-tariff devices allow to make the threefold accounting separated per day, night and rush hours when tariff of the most expensive because of the increased energy consumption by all population.
2. Whatever model of the electric meter you have chosen, the main thing that it appeared in the state registry as the device which has undergone certification and has got permission for electricity metering in the territory of the Russian Federation.
3. Address electricity providers, write the application for replacement of the metering device. Will issue you the resolution, having received which you have the right to make replacement of the counter independently or to invite the professional electrician.
4. If you have invited the expert, then to you will install according to all rules and requirements imposed by the electrocompany on electrical supply.
5. If you independently install the metering device, then put it in the available place, it is the closest from input cable, at the height no more than 1 meter of 70 centimeters and not less than 80 centimeters from floor. Connect all wires to the help of clips which you can buy in specialized shop. Fasten the counter on the guard intended for its installation. The device has to be to the room with temperature not below, than 0 degrees in the coldest season.
6. After mounting call the specialist in control from the power supplying company. To you will seal the device and will issue the act of commissioning.
7. Address to department of work with consumers and sign the contract for payment and electrical supply.
