How to collect the seeds of tomatoes

At the correct approach independently prepared seeds can bring more qualitative harvest, than purchased, and, above all that the result on definition will be more tasty and better, will become completely own merit. It is required to you

  • - ripe tomatoes of the pleasant grades;

  • - teaspoon;
  • - gauze or dense cotton fabric for drying of seeds;
  • - strainer for washing of seeds;
  • - hair dryer;
  • - boxes or linen sacks for storage of seeds;
  • - note paper and handle.

Instruction

1. Choose the most beautiful, equal and ripe fruits on bushes of tomatoes. Tie up them the ribbons of different color chosen for each grade of tomatoes. When tomatoes ripen completely, collect them and move in the aired room without direct beams of the sun.

2. Choose for preparation of seeds ripe, large tomatoes without damages and cracks. Without washing water, lay each selected tomato in separate tray and cover with gauze or napkin. Leave for several days in the dark room, but not in the sun.

3. When in the selected tomatoes the thin peel breaks under weight of juice and juice will begin to flow, accurately choose seeds as tea spoon in strainer. Wash out the selected seeds in cold flowing water. You will have seeds covered with jellylike cover. Your task is to get rid of it, without having damaged seeds.

4. For removal of cover of seeds it is necessary to start process of the fermentation imitating process of rotting of normal fruit in the nature. In tray for each grade of tomatoes stir seeds and water. Leave in the warm room for three days. Stir slowly mix daily two times. On seeds the mold of white or gray color has to appear.

5. After emergence in mixes of seeds and waters of bubbles and mold fermentation stops. Add water to seeds, well stir. Clean, without cover, seeds will settle on capacity bottom. Drain water together with parts of pulp, mold and empty seeds which will emerge on water surface.

6. Continue to wash seeds with clear water until they become clean, without pulp and mold. Then wash out in strainer. Carefully washed up seeds can be sent for drying.

7. Spread out the washed-out seeds to the gauze put in several layers or to print napkin. Lay each grade of seeds separately and sign grade, date of collecting seeds. You dry seeds indoors without access of direct beams of the sun, but in well aired place.

8. If at the time of drying of seeds the weather is rainy and humid air, use the hair dryer which is switched on on cold air. Do not use hot air for drying of seeds.

9. You can accurately remove dry-through seeds from print napkin and lay in cardboard boxes or sacks. The main thing that the container for seeds "breathed", passed air. Sign each grade of seeds, specify date of their preparation.

10. It is good to store the collected and packed seeds in the aired dark room without subzero temperatures. For this purpose the heated storeroom or garage approaches. It is also possible to suspend them in decorative sack in kitchen or in corridor.
