Unfortunately, everyone who is not by hearsay familiar with cultivation of vegetables on own kitchen garden is forced to face diseases of plants which are capable to destroy all future harvest quite often. The disease of cucumbers – quite widespread phenomenon and should fight against them nearly an every season.
Cucumbers – quite painful vegetable and if in time not to take measures for their protection, then it is possible to forget about harvest. The main thing in this hard business – exact diagnosis of disease, because as people military speak – the enemy needs to be known by sight. So, what are main diseases to which cucumbers are subject.
Mealy dew
Mealy dew is called the raid of white color which, as a rule, has property to be formed on top side of leaves. This very serious disease and if in time not to take necessary measures, then small specks which are the first symptoms of mealy dew for a short time will be covered by all leaves of plant.
To destroy "enemy", it is necessary to prepare mix of chalk and colloid sulfur (two for one), then carefully to spray with this solution plants. For the most effective prevention of disease it is necessary to stir 100 grams of liquid soap and 7 grams of copper vitriol in 10 liters of water. It is necessary to water with the turned-out mix cucumbers within week – every day one time.
White decay
Untimely removal of old leaves of plant can become the cause of white decay. The first symptoms: white raid, plant to the touch became soft and slippery. To cure plant, it is necessary to spray it with solution of copper vitriol (5 grams on water liter). What is important – all infected parts of plant need to be removed. Watering of cucumbers cold water can become the cause of one more disease – to radical decay which symptoms is gradual darkening and withering of stalk. Excellent prevention of this disease – daily watering Previkura solution (the German medicine, is on sale in shops like "Garden and kitchen garden"). Watering should be made within two weeks.
Anthracnose
Small specks of yellow color on stalks and leaves, or pink sores on cucumbers can be symptom of this disease. It is not difficult to defeat illness – to prepare mix of oxychloride of copper or 1% of the Bordeaux liquid and water enough (40 grams on bucket) and to spray carefully. It should be noted that except cucumbers, the anthracnose affects also other vegetable cultures: watermelon, pumpkin, melon.
Bacteriosis
Bacteriosis are called angular spots and sores of brown color which strike leaves and fruits of plant. For treatment of bacteriosis it is possible to use solution of the Bordeaux liquid, copper vitriol or the special medicine "Fitosporin". If cucumbers are grown up in to the greenhouseby , then it is necessary to support temperature condition - not less than 25-30 degrees. After harvesting the infected plants need to be burned, or carefully to dig over the soil.
Mosaic
Forever to get rid of so-called mosaic, it is necessary to make in the spring and in the fall disinfection of the soil solution of copper vitriol. If nevertheless there were signs of mosaic (as a rule, the disease affects young leaves owing to what they take the characteristic wrinkled and blown-up form), it is necessary to destroy sick plants. For prevention of disease it is necessary to spray plants with skim milk periodically. Completely to get rid of mosaic, it is necessary to land those grades of cucumbers which have immunity from this disease. Treat such grades: Ofix, Octopus, Pasamonte, Pasadeno, Pasalimo.
