If you have got old garden in which apple-trees badly fructify and there are no young gains of branches, do not hurry to cut down trees. There will pass a lot of time until you grow up the new fructifying trees. Try to rejuvenate strong cutting old apple-trees. It not only considerably will improve condition of trees, but also will promote regular good fructification.

Instruction
1. Attentively examine trees in garden. Choose only healthy apple-trees for the rejuvenating cutting. Do not keep trees cancer-stricken, with deep damages of shtamb and the breaking krone. At the same time the drying-out and bared branches – not occasion to get rid of tree since it is not disease, but signs of aging. Leave those apple-trees which quality of fruits is pleasant to you. Note also trees which can be pereprivit.
2. Start cutting during dormant period of plants – in the early spring. At this time the crown is well looked through and it is simpler to gardener to work. Prepare tools for cutting: secateurs, saws, step-ladder.
3. Begin work with removal of large branches. At first cut out all dried-up branches. It is better to cut them "on ring" (at trunk). You should clarify krone to the maximum. For this purpose get rid of the intertwining, broken and incorrectly growing escapes (the kroner directed inside). Follow the rule: it is better to remove two-three large branches, than to cut many small.
4. Attentively examine tree and choose the main large skeletal branches. "Raise krone" apple-trees – remove all hanging branches, so that between the soil and lower face of krone there was space not less than 80-100 cm high. Cut off according to the rule of taxonomy: the main bough has to be longer, than its branchings. If tree very old, then cut out two thirds of length of boughs. Remember that in this case you should create new krone from volchkovy escapes.
5. Lower krone of old tree. As a result its height will decrease by meter. For this purpose remove upper part of trunk with all large branchings. Cut off the top boughs over the side branchings growing outside.
6. Level fragmentary cuts knife and apply on them with thin layer garden var. Remove the cut-off boughs. Well look after the apple-trees which have transferred strong cutting. In time you hold events for protection against wreckers, you contain the earth around trunk in look, clean from weeds.
7. Often at the basis of old skeletal branches the young strongly growing escapes – tops are formed. Unsuccessfully located and weak cut out "on ring", and from remained cutting form new skeletal branches.
