Cutting of the screw compression springs used in modern cars is the most widespread way to lower road gleam or to increase rigidity of springs for giving to driving of bigger comfort.
Instruction
1. It is better to carry out works on cutting of springs of motive characteristics of the car in car service at the qualified specialist. This operation strongly affects quality of the course of the machine and if you are not sure of the forces, it is better not to try to perform such work independently.
2. If you have decided to run to scrap the hands, remove rack, to cut off springs, they at first need to be released. Make it as follows: lift the necessary part of the machine jack, remove wheel and clean the bolts fixing rack bottom. As a rule, they very dirty therefore you should fill in them with oil and to leave to soak for some time. Turn off bolts and bring down nave accurately accidentally not to damage the brake disk. Turn off the last top fastening and take out rack assembled. Now it is possible to disconnect springs.
3. Define as far as you want to truncate spring. For insignificant reduction of height of road gleam will enough cut off only 1.5 rounds. At each car the features, but usually cut off 2 rounds from front springs, and back cut off maximum on 3. It is better to consult the expert in advance not to cut off superfluous.
4. It is the best of all to shorten springs by means of the Bulgarian, but it is possible to manage also normal hacksaw though it will take more time. Make in the right place mark by means of marker and cut off or saw off excess length. It is necessary to cut in upper part, and to collect rack by the cut-off end up. In that place where you shortened spring, it has too big corner. It needs to be eliminated with gas pipe wrench or big piece of pipe by means of big physical effort.
5. Establish spring into place and make assembly of all parts of the car upside-down.
