Instruction
1. Try to determine humidity of wood by some external signs. Process not pared down board plane, cut it across sharpened by chisel or make cut. When sawn timber is very easily cut, and the seam in it is humidified – in wood a lot of moisture. Compress hands the received thin shaving. If it crumbles and breaks, then before you rather dry tree; and here if the body of preparation breaks up to crumbs, then it has already dried up.
2. Saw off from board small part (optimum thickness - about 10 mm, width – 30 cm), having receded approximately on 25-30 mm from face. To define humidity of wood, the received trial piece of material needs to be processed carefully abrasive paper in avoidance of hangnails and to wipe dry rags all sawdust.
3. Right after cleaning the piece of tree needs to be weighed on reliable technical scales. Write down the received result, having specified the initial weight of wood, with the maximum accuracy (to the 100-th share of gram).
4. Put wood in oven, having set temperature of 100 degrees. In hour you need to take out the tested material from oven and to weigh once again. Now continue to dry bar, it is regular (in each hour) weighing it. Do not forget to write down all received results. When wood completely dries, its weight will cease to change. Usually it occurs in 4-8 hours. It is possible to dry bar and on hot central heater, however in this case process will take not less than 48 hours.
5. Divide difference in initial and final lot of preparation into its weight in dry state, and then increase this number by 100. The received number will also become moisture percentage indicator in sawn timber. For descriptive reasons it is possible to give example. You had test of tree weight in 250 g.
