Division of tubers dahlias is necessary not only for reproduction of plant. Tubers divide to reduce the number of kidneys which will go to growth after spring landing dahlias in soil. If it will be less such kidneys, the plant will grow strong, will receive more useful substances and will please the owner in large flowers.
It is required to you
- - sharp garden or kitchen knife;
- - secateurs;
- - formalin or manganese potassium;
- - plastic bags;
- - labels with the name of grade;
- - capacity for soaking of allotments;
- - water.
Instruction
1. Prepare labels with the name of all grades dahlia growing on your site. Dig out dahlias right after their leaves povyanut from the first night frosts. Note label with the indication of grade. Air tubers within several hours on bed if there is dry weather. If humidity on the street high, tubers bring to the warm, dry room.
2. Process each grade dahlias separately from others. Stack the separated roots of each grade in separate ware. Remove the earth from tubers and truncate long backs to 3-4 cm, and stump from trunk to 10-15 cm. On table or other plain surface lay root dahlias. Examine it, checking for availability of damages. Sharp knife separate the small and damaged tubers. Estimate condition and the number of rostkovy kidneys.
3. Divide the number of kidneys in the basis dahlias into two parts and sharp knife root, leaving their identical quantity on each share. Depending on that how many dahlias you are going to put for the next year, divide halves once again, the same way.
4. Wet the separated dahlias in strong solution of manganese potassium or formalin within 30 minutes. Well dry allotments before weathered of cuts and place each part in separate plastic bag. On each package paste label with the name of grade of plant.
