Medvedki – species of Orthoptera of the insects having the large body reaching in length of 5 cm. She carries out almost all life underground, for the winter buries on depth up to 2 m, for reproduction lays eggs. Medvedki live basically in temperate or southern climate, prefer the damp and crude soil.
How to recognize that the medvedka has appeared:
- on beds small openings with a diameter about 1 cm appear;
- at the soil there are small, but long breaks;
- at night medvedka make specific sound;
- in places of emergence of such ditches, cultural plants perish.
Measures of fight against these wreckers.
1. On perimeter of the site establish noise revolving objects or just dress tin cans on columns. At wind gust they begin to rustle strongly. Medvedki do not transfer this sound and will leave your kitchen garden.
2. In places of appearance of insects dig out small holes and stack manure. Medvedki is done willingly by slots in warm fertilizer and it is possible to break this slot in the fall and to destroy them.
3. Special insecticides which protect plants from eating of root system keep within landing time of vegetable cultures in holes.
4. In advance make millet cereal, add to it aniseed oil and display this mix around minks of medvedka. Such smell makes negative impact on insects and they leave personal plot.
5. On kitchen garden traps are established. The plastic bottle undertakes, in it 50 g of beer are poured. Slightly above the middle of bottle special small openings are made. Further it is dug in to the earth, so that openings were underground. Medvedki very much love smell of beer and get into these traps, and cannot be chosen any more. Then just bottles gather and insects are destroyed.
