How to find the place for the well

At construction of the house or giving one of current problems there can be water supply. To drill the well or to dig well without predesigns – business unpromising. The suitable place needs to be looked for taking into account set of various factors.

Instruction

1. Invite experts who, having opportunity to receive aerial photographs, charts of geophysical surveys of wells and geological reports, will help you to define the place, most suitable for the well. This way is rather expensive on time and finance, but it is the most reliable.

2. Interview neighbors, examine the old and operating wells near your house. This method will give you information on the level of underground waters, depth of their bedding in your area. If there is a lot of wells, it means that the type of subsurface soil will allow you to drill the well. If there are no wells nearby, then, most likely, subsurface soil rocky or very dense, clay. And to make the well, you should use powerful drill. It is also necessary to mean that the reserve of underground waters is limited and is replenished not quickly. So it is necessary to drill the well in distance from others that they did not take water from one water-bearing layer.

3. A lot of waters contain sandy and pebble soil. The granularity of soil is higher and the layer is thicker than it, the more water will give layer. It is possible to define such places by means of geological cuts. If sandy and pebble soil comes to surface, you should not drill in this place the well – it will become soiled the water which has filtered from above. In clayey and muddy ground to drill wells ineffectively. In such places it is better to dig wide wells in which water will collect.

4. Pay attention to vegetation near your house. Perennial reed plants, willow, cedar often grow where water rather close to surface. Patches of green juicy grass during drought speak about the same. Congestions of ant hills speak about availability of close water too.

5. Evaluate surface of relief of the ground surface near the house. Often water-bearing layer has the same outlines. I.e. where the low place on surface, there and below – bottom. It is possible to drill the well there if this place does not flood at floods and water from surface does not get into water-bearing layer.

6. Look for superficial sources of water. Productive wells can be drilled near natural springs and keys. Researches show that wells near the rivers do not become empty even if the course dries up. However if water in such well warm and muddy, then gets water from the river into it.

7. Looking for the place for the well, it must be kept in mind that it has to be available to use in any weather and be far from pollution sources, such as dumps, industrial facilities, warehouses, services for repair of machines, car washes, cesspools, toilets, farms, animals shelters, sewerage systems, etc.
