1. Think over design of ceiling. Today in the market there is mass of modern quality and reliable materials. But they can be separated into two main types of finishing: all options of false ceilings (tension, lining, etc.) and drawing new covering (plaster, pasting, painting).
2. Then define borders of financial expenses that is how many you want to spend for repair of ceilings in the bathroom. Get acquainted with finishing materials, suitable for this purpose. Note their positive and negative qualities. For example, the most economic option is whitewashing. Its advantages: the universality, usability, besides it saves space, but at the same time becomes impregnated with dirt, over time loses durability and falls off. False ceilings are not afraid of courses, are strong and durable. Their main shortcomings – reduction of height of the room and high cost.
3. If you have decided to paint, whitewash ceiling or to paste over it with polystyrene foam tiles - at first carry out preparatory work. For this purpose clean surface to concrete surfacing: remove old whitewashing, oil paint, etc. Check whether there is no flaking putty (plaster). Then close up all slots, remove roughnesses, process surface special impregnations and antiseptic medicines. And only then you pass to the final stage of finishing.
4. To establish false ceiling, make framework (metal or wooden). The step of fixture will depend on weight of facing and will average from 40 to 60 cm. Lay necessary electrical wiring, using special cable channels. Later by means of fixture (brackets, nails, self-tapping screws) attach finishing material to frame profile: lining, plastic panels, etc. Glue with special sealing strip of the place of attachment of finishing to wall. When using gypsum cardboard, magnesite plates, etc., the sealing of joints between sheets, putty and painting by their acrylic paint will become the final stage.
