Air ducts are integral part of ventilation system. Thanks to them the supply air arrives to air distributors, and at the same time used air is removed outside. There are several signs on which air ducts are classified – by form, way of connection, special properties, production materials.

1. The overall performance of air ducts in many respects depends on their correct and reliable mounting. So most of experts in the field of ventilation systems prefer fastening of rectangular air ducts by means of Z-shaped and L-shaped pins and profiles. As the main element of fastening to air duct self-tapping screws are used.
2. Essentially both types of profile a little in what differ from each other. By means of Z-profile heavier air ducts usually fix. The fact is that then the additional corner undertakes considerable part of weight of air duct from below, releasing self-tapping screws from loading. In this case pins in places of fastening of profiles have to be obligatory complete with the rubber sealants necessary for compensation of possible easy fluctuations of air duct and reduction in sound level.
3. When mounting air ducts with the party exceeding 600 mm use the fastenings consisting of pins and traverses. In this case the air duct leans on traverse, and pins, except fastening function, limit side relocations of the highway. Such way is considered the most favorable.
4. Mounting of air ducts of circular section is made by similar way, only here traverses serve collars of the corresponding diameter in combination with pins.
5. Easier and cheap way of fastening of various air ducts – by means of punched tape. However it has many shortcomings among which there is lack of necessary rigidity that there can be the reason of excess vibrations and increases in noise level. Besides, there are difficulties with alignment of system.
6. Optimal variant of use of punched tape – in combination with collars. As practice shows, use of punched tape is appropriate when mounting air ducts of the small section with a diameter no more than 200 mm. To ceiling the air ducts usually fasten by means of reliable metal anchors which principle of gearing for surface completely corresponds to the principle of well familiar plastic dowel.
