In the 18th century in the European greenhouses and botanical gardens bewitching and very unpretentious plant – hibiscus (Hibiscus) from family malvovy has appeared. Eye had a rest on dark green brilliant leaves and magnificent red terry colors for which it was nicknamed the Chinese rose. The tree is not whimsical and does not require to itself special attention, but often long does not blossom. How to force the Chinese rose to show the flowers, experienced amateur flower growers know.
Though the room Chinese rose is also unpretentious to point of "accommodation", nevertheless it should define the place in the light room where on it direct sunshine in order to avoid burns on leaves would not fall and there would be no strong drafts. It is one of conditions of abundant blossoming. It is desirable to take out rose on loggia, balcony, terrace or if there is such opportunity (for example, in country house), directly in the summer on the street, having chosen the place protected from winds.
The Chinese rose is loyal to change. It can be seen off annually in the spring right after flower exit from condition of rest when young leaves only begin to make the way. However it concerns young plants. Adults it is necessary to replace as required. The soil has to be rather feeder: for example, mix of humus, the cespitose earth, peat and the coarse washed-out sand in proportion respectively 1:2:1:1. You can also buy Rose substrate in specialized flower shop.
After change water rose rather often, you loosen top soil for ensuring access of air to roots. Do not allow strong drying of the earth, otherwise buds and leaves will fall down and it will be difficult to reanimate plant.
Replacing rose, take new pot slightly more than the size of in what it grew before. Or just change the earth in old. The fact is that if the pot will be rather big, the hibiscus will release new leaves, but not buds. It is noticed that the rose growing in slightly rather small pot likes to show the flowers.
Watering, temperature and air humidity
Proper correlation of watering, temperature and air humidity – one of the main secrets of obtaining magnificent colors in large number. Flower kidneys at the Chinese rose are stuffed up in the winter when the plant is in condition of relative rest. Why relative? Because the hibiscus does not dump leaves as many other houseplants "retiring" for the winter. During this period the watering should be reduced sharply, and to move tree in the most cool room of the house even if not really well lit. Ideal temperature for rose at this time +15os. The rose to new life in February wakens. This moment is noted by emergence of young leaflets. Transfer plant to the warm light place, begin to increase gradually watering, make fertilizing.
If you miss the moment and will begin to change the place, to increase watering and fertilizing when the rose has already gathered buds, there is risk that she will painfully respond to sharp change of microclimate and will dump buds, and also part of leaves.
The hibiscus loves humid air therefore in the conditions of the increased dryness in city apartments the plant needs to be sprayed daily, or to display wet towel wipes or foam rubber at the edges of pot. Attention! Water when spraying should not get on flowers, their lobes quickly become impregnated with moisture, grow heavy and fall down. In the period of winter rest spraying, as well as watering, it is necessary to reduce to 2 times a week and as required to wipe leaves from dust.
Annual spring cutting of the Chinese rose – obligatory ritual. It is necessary to see it either to change, or right after it. Only this way you will provide formation of the new blossoming escapes. You can use the cut-off branches as planting stock (shanks) for receiving new plants. Put them in water and when they give backs, put in small pots.
The Chinese rose is very sympathetic on application of fertilizers. In the spring and in the summer 2-3 times a month it is necessary to feed up it weak solution of organic chemistry or mineral fertilizers (it is possible to alternate fertilizers). In the fall and in the winter fertilizing should be reduced to once a month.
