Prevention - the key to success
Of course, it is simpler to take beforehand measures for protection of future harvest not to have problems further:
- Make etchback of planting stock insecticidal ""Prestige"" medicines, ""Taboo"" or Prestizhitator. It will help to protect katrofel not only from Colorado beetle, but also other wreckers, including the wireworm, almost for two months.
- Before landing in each hole fill a little ashes. Young shoots up to 10 cm high can be saved from larvae, having powdered them with ashes. If the wrecker was found, collect larvae manually, then surely destroy them in kerosene or turpentine, and it is even simpler - burn.
- One more option to frighten off Colorado beetle - to put in hole before landing peel of onions or garlic.
- It is possible to try to make bait for bug in the early spring, having spread out the cut tubers or couple of buckets of potato peel on all potato site. After a while bugs which need to be collected and destroyed will gather for bait.
- In fight against Colorado beetle it is possible to use insecticidal decoctions from herbs and roots of plants. So, infusion of devyasil, celandine, cheremitsa, leaves of blackcurrant, garlic, mint, tansy, broth of wormwood, rhododendron , etc. are quite effective, for example.
- The effective remedy for spraying of young bushes of potatoes can be made of infusion of wormwood and ashes. 200 grams of fresh grass and glass of ashes fill in with boiled water and several hours allow to infuse then carry out processing. At the same time the stronger infusion, the better.
- Other means for spraying is cooked from garlic. To crush, fill in 300 grams of garlic with water of 10 l, to allow to infuse several hours. Before application to plane 50 grams of laundry soap, to part in infusion and to filter.
- The Colorado beetle does not love odorous plants therefore put at the edges of the potato site and also, whenever possible, in plant row-spacings with pungent smell - calendula, marigold, garlic, tansy, fennel, basil, coriander, haricot. It is possible to throw on the fasolena into each hole when landing, it is excellent protection for tubers. Consider that haricot has to be bush since curling will tighten all site lash of escapes and will muffle potatoes.
- On small sites the quite good effect gives mulching of the soil. After landing of potatoes from above the soil is covered with straw or hay layer about 30 cm. How to destroy Colorado beetle
- Process the site of 4% solution of chicken dung after harvesting.
- During the whole season pollinate bushes ashes through sieve, all during the summer 3-4 times.
- Spray potatoes with soap and cindery solution. He prepares at the rate of 1 kg of ashes on water bucket. You boil solution within 15 minutes, then add piece of the laundry soap wiped through grater. Add still water bucket, mix, filter and process landings.
- Prepare solution with soda and vinegar. For this purpose in bucket of water part half-bottles of vinegar and 100 grams of soda. At once spray potatoes.
- Perniciously urea solution at the rate of 100 grams on water bucket affects bug and larvae. In this case plants will receive extra root fertilizing, and bugs will die.
