Very often at the end of summer and early autumn, reaping potatoes crop, at excavation in tubers of this vegetable there are peculiar openings. They represent the small holes left bug-shchelkuna larva. All larvae of this bug call the wireworm for dense surface. They can be long up to 45 mm.
Most often all types of the wireworm are wreckers for plants and kitchen gardens. There are several ways which observance will significantly reduce quantity of these insects on your kitchen garden or completely will save from them, and will increase quality of the received potatoes harvest:
1. Late fall before winter frosts to make digging up of the earth in dump on shovel bayonet depth. Wireworm larvae badly transfer frosts and at this time will die. The same process needs to be repeated and in the spring before landing.
2. In landing time in hole to bring small amount of onions peel. The wireworm negatively perceives smell of onions and it will help to save harvest. After disposal of kitchen garden of it it is also possible to prikopat onions peel on site perimeter. It will be small prevention from repeated emergence of larvae.
3. For several days to wet nettle, celandine, coltsfoot infusion and to make watering of potato plantation.
4. It is also possible to use wood ashes. To scatter it between furrows and the wireworm on half will be gone from your potatoes.
5. Still excellent means from the wireworm: ground egg shell and introduction of nitrogen fertilizers.
It is better to make all these procedures in a complex during the whole agricultural season.
And still surely seed on the place of the potato site of siderata, for example mustard in the fall. They perfectly save kitchen garden from weeds, and the wireworm will have nothing to be powered.
