How to grow up anemones

Anemones, they are anemonies, enjoy special love at gardeners who have the shaded sites with large number of trees. Tenelyubiva anemones as in the nature grow in the basic in forests. In spite of the fact that anemones are unpretentious, the correct care for them is obligatory.

1. Choose the place on the site. Nothing terrible if the lawn on which you plant anemones is from North side of lodge. Anemones will treat it absolutely calmly, except for photophilous types – castellated, Caucasian and Mediterranean. They need to be imprisoned on solar sites.

2. Pick up material for landing. For gardeners you can find seeds or tubers in shop. Leaving differs a little – anemones which breed tubers, are more thermophilic. Seeds can be sowed at once to the open ground as soon as frosts come to an end. And even if among spring unexpectedly temperature will go down to zero and below – anemones will endure it.

3. Pave the way. It has to be subacidic or with neutral reaction. The soil needs to be loosened well. To mountain species of anemones, such as anemony gentle or petroglyphic, it is useful to add ashes or dolomite powder. The soil always has to be damp, but stagnation of water anemones is not loved so the drainage is necessary. Do it as well as for other plants – fill gravel or beaten brick under fertile layer.

4. The majority of anemonies put and replace in the spring. They feel better if to cover them with dead foliage of oak, maple and other trees. It is possible to use for mulching also peat. Some types can be transplanted and in the summer when one cycle of blossoming has already ended, and the second has not begun yet. At this particular time on rhizome growth kidney appears. For change it is necessary to take the site of rhizome with kidney. It is not obligatory to water the anemony replaced thus. Rhizomes are not afraid of drying.

5. For the winter the anemony needs to be covered with peat or dead foliage carefully. In particular thermophilic types, like anemony castellated. It is possible to dig out tubers right after the vegetation period. They need to be dried, put carefully in box in one layer and to store in well ventilated room prior to the beginning of fall. After that tubers send till late fall to more cool room where temperature does not exceed 5 °C, but does not fall up to 0 °C and below. It is possible to land tubers in soil or towards the winter, or in the early spring.
