How to grow up bilberry seeds

Bilberry — berry bush of family cowberry. It can be cultivated, having put on the site. Bilberry is landed not only for receiving berries, but also for gardening of the territory. Saplings seldom meet on sale, however this bush can be multiplied easily seeds.

It is required to you

  • Fresh berries of bilberry, water, filter paper, tanks for seedlings, riding peat, boxes, full mineral fertilizer.

Instruction

1. For receiving seeds accurately pound fresh berries wooden pestle or knead hands. It is possible to use the mixer or the meat grinder. Fill in berry gruel with large amount of water in proportion 1:10, carefully mix everything. Mature seeds which can be used for reproduction settle on bottom. Merge pulp, the emerged thin skin and empty seeds. Repeat the procedure several times until water becomes transparent.

2. Collect the seeds of bilberry which have fallen by bottom by means of filter paper or sieve, it is also possible to use for these purposes piece of calico or spunbond. Slightly dry them and at once place in the capacity filled with riding peat.

3. Shoots will appear in 2-3 weeks. Remove tanks with young seedlings for the winter to the light room where temperature of +5-10 °C is maintained, or leave them on the street, having covered with several layers of spunbond.

4. In the spring when the soil thaws, remove covering, and seedlings dive in boxes and leave for growing. The place where you will put them, has to be protected from wind and hit of direct sunshine.

5. The next year move saplings on the constant place of growth or to special containers. High air humidity is necessary for this bush. Plant bilberry in half-shade, under canopy of tree. If you have decided to choose the solar place, then do not forget to spray bushes 2-3 times a day, especially in hot weather, otherwise plants can die from siccation.

6. Plant bush among high trees for creation of berry glades or frame of coast of reservoirs. Bilberry well gives in to hairstyle, for this reason it can often be seen in registration of borders. Cut bilberry bushes only when you want to give them certain form.

7. Feed up bilberry only mineral fertilizers, and in very small amounts. For this purpose use no more than 1 tablespoon of full mineral fertilizer on 1 sq.m of landings. Organic fertilizers cannot be applied. Do not land bilberry under fruit-trees where manure and other organic chemistry is brought. In such conditions the bush will not survive. Bilberry will well grow under fir-trees, pines and foliferous trees which do not need fertilizing.

8. Periodically delete the damaged and dried up branches, dig out excess bushes. It will not bring a lot of trouble, bilberry extends slowly. It does not need to be covered for the winter, but the plant can suffer from spring frosts, young ovaries and flowers do not transfer negative temperatures. Before frosts cover bush with spunbond and also it is abundant it water the night before.
