For cultivation of eggplants in the greenhouse it is the best of all to choose undersized grades as these plants are very strongly extended in the protected soil, they should be tied up. When landing in hotbed the best harvest is yielded by hybrid grades.
Cultivation of seedling
Growing up seedling, it is necessary to remember that at eggplants very sensitive root system which is badly restored after damage. Therefore for seedling use big pots, their length, depth and width should not be less than 8 cm. For these purposes it is possible to use ready cubes of peat humus. Seedling is regularly watered and feed up fertilizers. After emergence on it the first leaf and before forming of the fourth it is covered with the darkening material in evening or night time.
Seedling can be transferred to the greenhouse when on it 8-9 leaves develop, and height of plant will reach 20 cm. Its age will be about 75 days, in warmer regions the term can be reduced by 1-2 weeks. To keep root system, seedling of eggplants should be moved together with earth lump.
Preparation of the soil in the greenhouse
Since fall the soil is cleared of the previous plants, rykhlyat and disinfected for what use solution of copper vitriol. For its preparation take 2 tablespoons of copper vitriol and dissolve in 10 l of hot water. Then introduce organic fertilizers, brown peat, sawdust, ashes and sulfate of potassium. To lower acidity of the soil, add dolomite powder (2 tablespoons on 1 sq.m). It is possible to plant eggplants to the greenhouse only provided that the soil in it has got warm up to 15 °C. The soil is carefully dug over, eggplants land, keeping distance between bushes about 45 cm, and between ranks — about 60 cm. Landing holes do by 15 cm in depth, spill them large amount of water. Seedling has to be well spilled before landing, the lump of the earth should not be showered from it.
Leaving and fertilizing
Eggplants in the greenhouse water only with warm water. The first time it will need to be made in 5 days after landing, after — not less once a week. During fructification watering it is necessary to carry out 2 times a week, best of all early in the morning. After watering the greenhouse is aired. The best temperature for cultivation of eggplants in the greenhouse +28 °C are considered if it is higher, the plant can die. To monitor changes, to greenhouses it is necessary to hang up two thermometers: one is closer to the earth, and another — on the middle of height of construction. It is regularly necessary to air the greenhouse, in very hot days it is necessary to water in it paths. The eggplants which are grown up in the greenhouse need to provide not less than three fertilizing during the season. Prior to fructification use mineral and complex fertilizers, after — nitrogen-phosphorus, for example, ammonium nitrate or superphosphate.
