Instruction
1. Gladioluses grow up from bulbs. Primary selection of planting stock should be made in March. Get bulbs from storage, examine them regarding drying, detection of mold. The healthy bulbous tuber elastic, its surface shines, on it there should not be sores and mechanical damages. If wounds on thin skin are not enough, just powder them with sulfur mix with wood charcoal. Throw out strongly struck bulbs, without being sorry.
2. Put gladioluses in flat box collum down, put in the cool dark place. One week prior to jumping in soil, pour bulbs wet sawdust to induce them to formation of the first roots.
3. The bed under flowers is recommended to be dug up very deeply not less than on 40-50 cm that roots of flower could grow freely deep into. Make along bed longitudinal furrows on depth of bayonet of garden shovel, fertilize the soil wood ashes and humus, you can add a little sand.
4. Disinfect bulb within 20-30 minutes in weak solution of potassium permanganate and dig it on depth of 10-15 cm. Between separate plants leave distance not less than 20 cm.
5. It is not necessary to do anything special more. Gladioluses do not need additional fertilizing or special watering. Only in strongly droughty summer it is possible to water them if the earth has dried out more, than on 20 cm.
6. When cutting flowers, leave at least 4 leaves that the kornelukovitsa has managed to gain strength before excavation on bush. By fall around each of them many lukovichek-children who it is necessary to dig out and send accurately to the dry cool place to storage till next spring are formed.
