Parsley in Greece was used for preparation of medical medicines, and already from there it has removed to us in the form of garden culture. It is possible to grow up parsley of two types – sheet and root. In sheet to food there are only greens, and root differ in powerful root crop which is used for pickles and sauces. How to plant parsley

It is impossible to grow up parsley after relatives - celery: fennel, cilantro, caraway seeds and carrots. For landing of parsley after them there have to pass not less than four years, however, and all celery after parsley land later the same time. Potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cabbage, cucumbers will be the best predecessors.
It is necessary to plant parsley in the second half of April, to the friable soil with the normal or a little increased acidity. It will be better if beds to prepare since fall, having brought in them when redigging humus (on 1 sq.m 3-4 kg). It is necessary to add mineral fertilizers in the spring.
It is the best of all to grow up parsley on beds with row-spacings in 15 – 20 cm. Seeds ret previously for day in water, or within half an hour keep in hot water in gauze sack, and then dry to loose state. Some gardeners for fast viability ret parsley seeds for 4 hours in milk. Dry seeds will ascend long and disjointedly, for week later, than wetted.
The dried seeds sow in grooves not more deeply than two centimeters, 0.5 – 1 are better. After landing they should be watered, and the earth slightly to stamp or condense with board. For moisture preservation, it is desirable to cover crops with polyethylene. 10 – 14 days later shoots will appear.
It is the best of all to grow up parsley from dry seeds towards the winter, sowing them directly to the frozen soil. It is possible to interplant parsley every other one or two weeks until the end of July, practically all summer.
How to look after parsley
To grow up parsley – occupation not troublesome, care in the basic consists in watering, weeding, loosening of the soil and fight against weeds. You will cut off sheet parsley on greens so thinning will happen in the natural way. But it does not belong to root parsley, at insufficient thinning the root crops will be small. During heat of plant will stop growth, leaves will begin to grow coarse, but in the same time the concentration of essential oils, and therefore roots, and leaves will amplify will become more fragrant.
At cut of parsley leave 4 - 5 centimetric scapes. It is possible to introduce few times during the season nitrogen fertilizers. It is desirable to introduce complex fertilizers at the beginning of the vegetative period under konevy parsley.
Enemies of parsley: stem nematode, melon plant louse, white decay, rust, white spottiness, carrot fly, carrot listobloshka. You watch condition of leaves of plant not to allow yield loss.
Harvesting, storage
Time for cleaning of root parsley – September. Leaves cut off, and root crops store like carrots – in cellar or in the fridge. It is possible to leave part of backs in the earth, then receive fresh greens in the early spring. If to put small root crops in pots, then it is possible to grow up parsley on windowsill even in winter time.
