Rhodiola pink – the perennial grassy plant which is widely applied in traditional and official medicine. The gold root has the stimulating effect on central nervous system, improves intellectual and physical working capacity. Thanks to this plant it is possible to avoid stresses, breakdown at serious illness, to prolong working capacity in old age.
Pink its rhizome from which prepare infusions, extracts, extracts is of the main value of rhodiola. The dug-out plant has characteristic delicate aroma of rose attar, on taste roots bitterish knitting, have color of old gold – the second name of this plant ""gold root"" has gone from here. The agrotechnology of cultivation of plant is quite simple, it is quite possible to grow up it in the garden, but it is necessary to consider some features and preferences of gold root.
The rhodiola pink prefers soils, fertile, rather easy on structure. On heavy clayey grounds, in the conditions of constant overwetting of the soil at plant roots for the sake of which it is grown up badly develop and decay. The good result is yielded by organic fertilizing, regular weeding and scarification – in such conditions root weight increases quicker that allows to receive good harvest of medicinal raw materials.
For reproduction of gold root use crops of seeds and division of roots. The most available option – reproduction of plants divisions by rhizome pieces with several kidneys of renewal. It is necessary to carry out division in the spring when the rhodiola has not gone to growth yet. In the beginning it is necessary to prepare bed, to bring in it humus, peat, wood ashes and a little bank sand for improvement of structure of the soil. The place for landing needs to be chosen as solar – the rhodiola pink grows in shadow worse. It is necessary to plant plants according to the scheme 30 x 30 cm, it is necessary that saplings did not shade each other.
The old plant can be not dug out completely, and only to undermine readily available roots and to cut off allotments with kidneys sharp knife. In this case on old plant the rhizome will continue to accrue that will allow and to remove from it harvests of roots further. Wounds after cuts need to be powdered with wood ashes, to fill up roots with the soil. For this purpose it is required to have 3-4 beds for cultivation of gold root, on each of which there will be uneven-age plants. It is impossible to forget also about crop rotation: after outplanting of rhizomes on this place of 2-3 years it is necessary to plant other plants, and for gold root to prepare other site. It is possible to make multiple copies rhodiola and seeds, but this quite labor-consuming occupation, in most cases it is used only by keen selectors for creation of new cultivars of this plant. Seeds of gold root very small and badly sprout at normal crops. To achieve shoots, it is necessary to sow rhodiola late fall. The soil for crops has to be friable, consist of 2 parts of the cespitose earth, by 1 part of sand and humus, 100 g of wood ashes and 20 g of superphosphate on soil bucket. After that mix needs to be leveled, condensed with palms and to spill water. To spread out seeds to the surfaces of damp soil and to cover with glass or plate then to dig in snowdrift or to put in cold cellar for stratification and to watch that soil did not dry up. At the end of February the capacity with seeds needs to be brought in the warm room and to wait for shoots.
