It is not necessary to grow up strawberry in low-lying places where cold air flows constantly concentrate. It is not necessary to raise strawberry more than four years on the same place because in the soil on this site many diseases and infections have collected.
- Place for landingof strawberries. The flat area or slopes turned to the southwest and protected from strong wind perfectly will be suitable for such culture. It is reliable to protect strawberry during the winter period snow cover 20-25 cm thick. It is possible to cover plant with fir twigs branches.
- Cultures which are the most suitable for cultivation - neutral and subacidic soils. As a rule, are ideal the loamy and sandy earth with high concentration of nutrients. On strongly humidified soil located close to underground waters it is necessary to establish drainage or to grow up strawberry on high beds.
- Landing of strawberry. It is possible to plant strawberry several times: in the spring and in the fall (end of August-September). The earlier the plant is planted, the better it takes roots, and further develops better, differing in high productivity the next year. For landing of culture it is better to choose sunny days or in the evening day that in night saplings of strawberry can acclimatize.
- Preparation of the soil. If landing is carried out in the spring, the way is recommended to be paved even in the fall, and for autumn landing – at the end of June. For fertilizer it is desirable to choose organic and mineral substances in proportion: on 1 sq.m bring ammonium nitrate (15-20 g), manure (5-6 kg), superphosphate (20-25 g) and chloride potassium (15-20 g). Then the soil is well dug over.
- Care for strawberry. During the spring period between ranks of strawberry remove the died-off leaves by means of lawn rake. Dry leaves need to be cut off secateurs. The soil is loosened surely, under bushes row up the earth. Then loosening is repeated once in two weeks and carry out regular weeding.
Strawberry loves fertilizing. If before landing to the earth organic and mineral fertilizers have been introduced, then in the next two years it is possible to be limited to fertilizing. The first fertilizing is carried out in the spring and includes nitrogen fertilizers and ashes: ammonium nitrate (8-10 g) or urea and ashes (50-60 g) on 1 m of row. The second similar fertilizing fall on the beginning of the fructifying period.
In dry weather strawberry should be watered once in two weeks (10-12 days). It is important to carry out watering during blossoming, maturing of fruits and during forming of flower kidneys at the end of summer.
