How to impose the iron furnace with brick

Iron and brick furnaces significantly differ from each other on the characteristics. Everyone has merits and demerits. The facing of the metal furnace brick somewhat helps to unite their advantages and to reduce shortcomings. At the correct approach, metal and brick quite can get on with each other.

It is required to you

  • — oven ceramic brick;
  • — asbestos millboard;
  • — clay or sand-cement slurry;
  • — bricklayer's tool (trowel, kirochka, plumb and so forth);
  • — metal corner.

Instruction

1. Before starting laying, make sure that the basis on which there is metal furnace will sustain the weight of coating bricks. At the considerable sizes of the iron furnace it can reach several hundred kilograms. Count approximately quantity of bricks which is required to you at laying of half-brick walls, and increase it by the weight of one brick (3.5 kg). If there are doubts that the basis will sustain this weight, establish under supporting girders of floor around the furnace additional support or arrange individual footing for brickwork.

2. Mark around the metal furnace the place for brickwork. At the same time you recognize condition that the distance between the furnace and internal surfaces of laying has to be not less than 0.5 and no more than 10 cm. At small values of gap of wall of the iron furnace will strongly heat up, and the term of its service will decrease, at big – the brickwork will accumulate too slowly heat that too is undesirable. If the furnace is made of thick or fire-resistant steel, the gap can be done less if from thin carbonaceous – it is more. On average equal 3-5 cm accept it.

3. Beat on floor thin metal sheet so that it with stock blocked the marked place. Lay on it in those places where there will be brickwork, leaf of asbestos millboard.

4. Prepare clay mortar for laying. For check of its quality roll plait from clay 8-10 mm thick and contract from it ringlet with a diameter about 5 cm. If the ringlet was curtailed without cracks – your solution too greasy if has broken up to parts – too lean. At normal solution the ringlet remains whole, but on it small cracks appear. It is possible to bring clay to norm, having added to it to sand (at rich clay) or having removed it with washing (at lean clay). The clay mortar can be replaced normal sand-cement with ratio 1:3.

5. Begin laying of half-brick walls. Make first row continuous, in the second in each wall leave two air vents of half-brick. Thickness of seam maintain 3-5 mm, provide bandaging of seams.

6. Around door of the furnace issue aperture. Its sizes have to provide convenient service of the furnace. Lay two metal corners on top of aperture (outside of and from within wall) for perception of loading from the top ranks.

7. At registration of top of the furnace you proceed from own requirements. If the bathing furnace to which no additional requirements except purely functional are imposed is faced, the laying can be finished at the level of Kamenka, having left open gap between laying and the furnace, necessary for ventilation.

8. If you want to give furnaces completeness and decorative effect, issue laying top in the form of flat surface or the arch. In this case leave in upper part of laying from each party exhaust air vents similar to what did from below. If the bathing furnace is faced, then it is also necessary to provide and apertures for access to Kamenka. The most convenient constructive decision in this case is combination of these openings with ventilating.
