1. The orchid does not love frequent touches and change of the place. Especially during blossoming you should not turn and rearrange it. Also this epiphyte does not love narrowness. Grow in the company with other plants, even related family, it, of course, will be. But in order that it violently and long blossomed, it needs the certain territory, about two square meters.
2. The orchid does not love drought. Its substrate which consists not of the soil as for "normal" plants, and from pine bark, has to be always damp. But it is necessary to water it in the special way. It is simple to pour into pot water – insufficiently. Substrate has to become wet properly. For this purpose the pot with orchid of times a week needs to be put for half an hour in basin with warm water. If it is several orchids, it is possible to make this operation directly in bathtub, and at the same time to arrange them warm shower. Only not during blossoming.
3. By the way, for blossoming stimulation (only in this only case) the orchid can suit artificial drought. That is in two months prior to expected blossoming which usually happens in the spring to miss one-two waterings. And in three weeks thoroughly to allow to become wet to substrate and roots, having left in bathtub with water for hour.
4. But more often than once a week, you should not water orchid. She does not love also overwetting – from it roots can decay. From water procedures sprayings are shown. They can be done daily – it will do only good to plant. It is even better to support indoors humidity level by means of humidifier.
5. Right after purchase of orchid it needs to be replaced. It is better to prepare substrate most. To buy in shop or to prepare pine bark in the forest, to add there the peat dust (which is dried up bark too has to be disinfected and dry-through) and a little wood charcoal as disinfecting and for drainage. The drainage is necessary for orchid because this plant needs large amount of air for roots.
6. Frequent fertilizing is not necessary to orchid. Rather liquid fertilizer especially for orchids of times in three months. In the winter you should not feed plant – for it cold season – dormant period. Contents temperature for orchids should not be high. Though it is the inhabitant of tropics, she best of all feels at +25 °C in the summer and +16 … 18 °C in the winter.
7. The orchid does not love bright sunlight too. Especially during dormant period and after change it needs shading. And in the rest of the time – soft diffused light. Therefore east windowsill – the best place in the apartment for orchid. And you should not hold flower in the winter near the battery or other heating appliance at all.
