Beds can be made in two ways: or flush with other site, or on image of "podium". The first option easier and does not demand big labor costs. But if you have heavy clay soils, and every spring the site is waterlogged, it is better to prefer the second option - ridges on the eminence.

1. Plan the site. It is better to place beds in the place protected from north by high bushes or fruit-trees. At the same time, trees should not interfere with passing of sunshine. Without the sun your future vegetables will not turn out such as you would like. In arsenal of the gardener there are not enough cultures which love shadow. The sorrel, spinach, ramson belong to their number. But other vegetables, for example, sheet beet mangold, at lack of light begin to accumulate nitrates actively. Pryanovkusovy greens without due lighting grow more slowly. Beet and carrots form small root crops. And strawberry – grows ripe much later and is surprised gray decay rather.
2. Dig over the earth on shovel pin depth. If desired it is possible to use cultivator. But let you are not tempted by thought to process the site short, having excluded future row-spacings. It is mistake of many beginning gardeners. Doing beds at the dacha, they leave the place between them in primitive state, and then are surprised from where weeds undertake.
3. Decide how beds of rather other site will be placed – at one level or on the eminence. In the first case it is enough to plan pegs ranks of landings. In the second – it is necessary to do "podium". Remove the top fertile soil layer, put aside. Mark. By means of wooden boards or their plastic imitation make border. Height of "podiumny" bed – about 30-40 cm. Base layer – vegetable garbage, for example, bark and branches of trees. Average – the compost earth or the rerotting manure. Top – the removed earlier fertile soil.
4. Water. Abundant moistening of the soil will allow it to settle properly, having filled the emptiness formed at application of fertilizers. During the first watering it is necessary to spend not less than 8-10 l of water for each square meter of beds. Level the surface of the soil rake. If you do beds in the spring, and landing of vegetable cultures shortly is expected, cultivate the land Intavir or other substance protecting from wreckers. It is better to do, of course, beds in the fall – the earth "will be defended".
5. Plan (if have not made it earlier) grooves in which you will put. Observe agrotechnology of the planted plants. Especially it is important if it is about perennials. You do not seek to contain on bed of which width of 50 cm, is more than three rows. First, it will result in thickness of landings, as a result – to low commodity properties of vegetables. Secondly, considerably will complicate weeding, loosening and other care for plants.
