Types of garden benches
The simplest and economic option – bench without back. Classical model for any situation; she does not demand predesigns of design and can be made of the most plain and public materials at short notice. The universality of such bench does it by very popular element of garden architecture.
The shop equipped with back quite will be suitable for personal plot also. Its design is practical, it contains only the most necessary number of elements, has unpretentious exterior. The bench with back can be established directly near the country house, near pond or in gazebo. Such designs usually produce from tree, sometimes in combination with metal. More exotic option – angular bench. It will perfectly look where it is impossible to establish normal shop for some reason: for example, due to the lack of the sufficient place.

Preparatory work
Take all necessary measurements, execute the drawing or at least the simplest sketch of future bench. The sizes of finished product have to correspond to the place where the bench is supposed to be established. Calculate amount of material which is required for the chosen design.
Pay special attention to material selection. If you have decided to make shop of wood, give preference to pine, birch or oak bars and boards. The main advantages of any kinds of wood – comparative simplicity of processing and esthetic exterior of finished product. The lack of wooden bench is that it can be exposed to destructive influence of sunshine and atmospheric precipitation over time. Take care of the tool. Self-tapping screws, drill, the angular grinder, hacksaw, the screw driver by all means will be necessary for you for assembly of bench.
From the wooden material which is previously selected for work cut:
- six levels for the device of seat and back (the approximate size: 1500х140 mm);
- two couples of basic elements (350х140 mm);
- two racks for back of bench of 710х140 mm in size;
- four bars for fastening of legs and seat (size of 510х70 mm);
- board which will provide rigidity of framework (size of 140х120 mm).
Grind the prepared constructive parts and carefully impregnate with antiseptic structure – it will protect wood from mold and fungus.
Assembly of bench
In the middle of upper part of racks of back make diagonal cut at an angle about 20 degrees. Collect bench legs; the optimum distance between lobbies and back basic elements will make about 300 mm. Connect legs bar and execute double binding (from below and from above supporting structure). It is necessary to fix elements by means of self-tapping screws from the inside.
Collect seat of bench from three levels, having left between them gap. The basis of back of shop will be formed by two wider boards. On the assembly course check design by means of construction level from time to time – it will help to prevent distortions. The levels screwed on legs on both sides will help to give to all design additional rigidity.
When the main carpenter's work is completed, process the turned-out bench abrasive paper. If the shop has to stand under the open sky, in addition cover all design with waterproof varnish. It is recommended to apply varnish along wood fibers with several layers of average thickness. If there is no varnish near at hand, it is possible to cover bench with oil paint, having chosen color so that the bench was correctly combined with other elements of country landscape. After full drying of varnish or paint the bench is prepared for use.
