- Woolen multi-colored fabric, scissors, cotton threads in color of fabric, safety pin, fabric for lining 80*50sm.
Instruction
1. For a start it is necessary to cut fabric strips. If the pieces of woolen fabric which are available for you, are identical on thickness, then width of strips has to be about 6 cm. If fabric thickness different, cut it so: • strips from the thickest fabric up to 6 cm wide • from fabric of average thickness – up to 7 cm • from the most fine fabric – about 10 cm wide. It is recommended to make trial braid for definition of optimum combination of strips of various thickness at which the braid turns out equal.
2. It is necessary for creation of rug that length of strips of fabric was 120 cm. If you have material less necessary length, then sew it as follows: two strips of identical fabric put at an angle 90 degrees to each other and sew them together at an angle 45 degrees manually or on the sewing machine, using threads in tone of the sewed fabric. Cut off fabric at seam so that the size of "tail" did not exceed 5 mm.
3. After all strips are prepared, it is possible to start weaving of braids. Fasten together the ends of three strips by means of pin and record it at that level where it will be convenient to you to be engaged in weaving. After the braid is ready, fix its ends by thread or pins that it has not untwined. Choosing contrast strips of fabric, weave 10 more braids.
4. Lay out in a row the available braids, and, interchanging the position of them, pick up the best combination of colors for your rug.
5. Now it is necessary to sew braids. For this purpose put two braids on plain surface nearby and straighten their ends. Recede from edge of product about 9 cm and long needle with double thread sew braids, in turn passing stitch too much one, then too much another. Do not tighten thread too strongly and you watch that stitches were not visible on face side of your product. When to edge of braid there are about 9 cm, make several additional stitches, having fixed the end of seam. Sew thus all prepared braids.
6. Choose red woolen fabric and cut it strips. Sew ready strips with such calculation: three width of carpet have to equal to length of one strip. Sew long edges of strip together that it had tube appearance.
7. Alternating braids in chessboard order, miss through them tube from red fabric. On the opposite end of rug fix it by several stitches, avoiding strong tightening of thread. Again binding tube with braids, return back to edge of rug.
8. Before finally fixing the end of tube from red fabric, make sure that the ends of braids are straightened. After the tube is sewn to edge of rug, cut off its tip and tuck the remains under edge of carpet. In the same way process the opposite edge of product.
9. Put rug reverse up. Record pins lining, having tucked edges of material on 2-2.5 cm. Having inverted rug, check whether the lining goes over its edges. If everything is all right, begin to sew lining material to rug reverse perpendicular to braids. Make five parallel lines, alternating long internal stitches to small external. Finish production of rug, having fixed by stitches lining on all to product perimeter.
