So-called high beds by method Z. Holzer not too often meet on garden sites. But experts assure that the harvest on such beds by 2-3 times exceeds harvest from normal beds and early vegetables keep up on them for 2-3 weeks earlier. So it is worth constructing at least one high bed and you make sure that all your efforts will quickly pay off.
It is required to you
- - wooden bars and boards;
- - thick polyethylene or PVC film;
- - metal section;
- - thick wire;
- - frequent metal gauze;
- - wooden garbage and scraps (branches, chips);
- - waste paper;
- - material for compost (leaves, grass);
- - prime quality land
Instruction
1. Choose the place for future bed. It has to be well protected from wind and drafts. It is desirable that the bed was well lit with the sun. Consider the bed sizes. Length can be any, and here width you should not do more than one and a half meters that the bed was convenient to be processed from two parties.
2. Make bed framework. The best framework — from the metal corners connected in corners by bolts or welding. But it is quite possible to manage also wooden bars. The separate framework will allow to move if necessary bed if you want to reorganize the site further.
3. Add bed framework with walls. The simplest option — walls from boards. Isolate the internal surfaces of boards contacting to the earth polyethylene film or scraps of linoleum. Through 1-1.5 m make couplers for walls of thick wire. Without such strengthening the earth will hold apart from within wall of bed and will destroy them.
4. On bottom of bed place the close-meshed metal gauze for protection against rodents. Lay the garbage capable to long decomposition on grid — branches, cardboard scraps, paper. From above fill material layer for compost — leaves, the crushed grass. Carefully spill design water and from above fill up prime quality land with layer not less than 30 cm. Condense all layers that the earth not too sank. The bed is ready. You can start planting of seedling.
