To make any mirror, irrespective of its assignment, it is possible by sedimentation of thin layer of silver on normal glass. This way is based on restoration of silver from solutions of its salts by means of various reducers. By the way, solutions of salts are called serebrilny liquid.
Instruction
1. Glass for mirror has to be ideal in every sense: in respect of purity, integrity and flatness of covering. Glass before silvering wash by the room it in solution of caustic soda to remove all greasy and oily spots. After washing in solution glass is washed by clear water and smeared with melkoizmelchenny chalk or the Vienna lime. It is also stored in this look before its direct use. Just before start-up of glass in work it is cleaned with soft rag and washed with water.
2. It is possible to silver glasses in two ways. The first consists in immersion of glass in special solution. We select ware for silvering from any material, except metals. Glass is put on bottom, having left between it and bottom about a centimeter, having substituted under glass bathtubs bars or small glass pieces on each side. Glass in bathtub is already lowered, now the bathtub is filled with serebrilny liquid which level rises above bottom edge of our future mirror, but does not reach top.
3. The second way consists in filling in on glass from above of the same serebrilny liquid. That liquid did not flow down, do sides of the wax paper, wax, paraffin, clay and other materials. If glass of the small sizes, it is held for suckers. And big glasses already place on the special navodny tables located strictly horizontally. The table is supplied with fillet through which surplus of serebrilny solution will flow down. At hot silvering the tables equip with devices for heating of top of table steam.
4. After silvering the brand new mirrors carefully wash with the distilled water and establish for drying strictly vertically. When the mirror dries, its reflecting party is covered with dammarovy or bituminous varnish that the mirror surface wore out from external influences less.
