The industry releases many door assemblies from tree now. But production of outer timber door the hands – not rarity. Many owners of apartments familiar with craft of the carpenter and capable to execute finishing, try to save and to independently make product functional and attractive externally for installation in door opening.
Before being accepted to production of doors, it is necessary to execute calculations and to prepare the tool and materials in the quantity necessary for work. That good strong doors have turned out, it is necessary to choose quality wood.
To build outer timber doors the hands, tools and materials according to such list will be necessary:
- Boards and wedges from tree.
- Self-tapping screws and screw driver.
- Struts.
- Joiner's glue.
- Nails and hammer.
- Tape measure.
- Drill.
- Polyurethane foam.
- Loops and handles.
- Construction level.
- Sandpaper.
- Solid wood and fibreboard.
- Heat-insulating material.
- Plane.
Before starting door construction, carefully think over its design and carry out measurements. It is necessary to measure height of aperture and width. Then with the received sizes it is necessary to execute drawings according to which all elements and parts will be carried out.
Boards act as basic elements of design of doors – make cloth, splines and also knee brace which have on diagonal of them. The knee brace helps to protect door from distortion during operation. From door panel and frame the door unit is formed.
We connect previously bars to check assembling accuracy. For external design the frame is made of bars 75-150 mm thick. It is also supplied with bar in the lower part which has to improve heat-insulating characteristics.
Most often timber doors carry out framed. Such product represents board – it can be carved, pro-thinned out, smooth, made of several boards. It is inserted into binding.
For creation of panel framed door choose bars from quality material into which then and insert panels. In bars carry out grooves. At faces of boards of panel there is profile which is inserted into binding grooves.
What can be panels:
- Floating.
- Flat.
- With sole figured profiles where lines straight lines and curves are combined.
- With figured edges.
It is necessary to attach panels aflush with door framework. It allows to establish sheets fibreboards correctly. Panels on self-tapping screws fix – among modern options of fastening this is considered the most effective. Before making door surface, they are twisted at an angle that from reverse side of door cloth they would not be noticeable. Then impose fibreboard and fix on nails.
To execute finishing of outer side, carry out special edging mill which is ground abrasive paper. It is possible to pass with the following step to installation of the lock and insert of handles.
