1. The pond should not be in shadow of trees or constructions that it could be lit with the sun at least part of day. It is the best of all to create it among flower beds and near the house. And if when choosing form of reservoir it is possible to rely completely on imagination, then reservoir depth directly depends on its assignment. For example, expecting to leave fish in pond for the winter, it is necessary to build special holes or zimovalny wells.
2. Approximate depth of average pond - no more than 1.5 meters. It is also necessary to consider that water at such depth does not get warm completely. For this purpose leave sites of smaller depth (about 0.3 meters).
3. As for materials, the easiest way - use of ready stamped forms, but their main shortcoming - fragility.
4. There are many other, more reasonable ways of creation of framework and means for this purpose. Experts, for example, advise in the old manner to do bottom and walls of reservoir of concrete mix not less 400th brand (1 part), coarse-grained sand (2 parts) and crushed stone (3 parts).
5. For a start it is necessary to fill in bottom. After it hardens, start construction of walls which have to be 12-14 cm thick, as well as bottom. They can also have steps. It is necessary to concrete walls in wood form or in flexible plywood (for pond with curvilinear coast).
6. Approximately in 2 weeks it is necessary to wash out pond, having left water in it for 1-2 days. Then you bring in it soil, sand, plant water plants, finally fill in with water and stock with fish.
7. It is desirable to drain water in the fall, to catch fish, to clean bottom and if necessary to repair artificial reservoir.
