The choice of lawn-mowers is rather broad, but even the best of them not always conform to requirements of the consumer. And the price of similar units sometimes exceeds expectations. At great desire to make the lawn-mower it is possible also the hands, having picked up the corresponding materials and tools.
Instruction
1. For production of the lawn-mower pick up the chassis from baby carriage, including wheels. It is desirable to find design of old sample, from Soviet period.
2. Decide on lawn-mower working width, it is required for selection of the engine of certain power. At working width in 0.5 m the engine with power about 1 kW will approach.
3. Pick up the electric motor. It is the best of all to use the unit from the centrifuge of the washing machine. It is not recommended to use anchor engines, for example, from the vacuum cleaner. Such engine quickly overheats and can fail.
4. So, take old carriage and cut off all excess constructive parts, having left only the chassis. Weld two tube sections that they have coincided with fastening of the electric motor chosen by you on cross bars. Weld two vertical corners on metal section. It is important that the shaft of the engine was located strictly on the center of the chassis, and its end was at distance about 5 cm from the earth (such is there will be grass height after hairstyle).
5. Manufacture the protection cover of sheet steel 1.2 mm thick. In the beginning draw circle with a diameter of 530 mm, and then accurately cut it by means of the grinder. In the center make the opening on diameter exceeding engine shaft approximately on 4 mm. Weld casing on pipes that the end of shaft of the engine was blocked by casing side on 25 mm.
6. Cut out lawn-mower knife from sheet steel 3 mm thick. In the center make the opening equal to diameter of shaft of the engine. At the edges, at distance of 20 mm from edge of disk make two more symmetric openings for fastening of the cutting knives. Put on disk shaft that the end of shaft was level with disk. Attach disk welding.
7. Make knives of strong alloy steel, for example, from cloth of two-handled saw. The configuration of knives can be various. Attach knives to disk bolts, using lock-nuts.
8. Upon termination of installation of knives carry out balancing of disk. Invert the lawn-mower sideways and rotate disk. If it stops in one situation, in the lower point drill openings, the balance will not be reached yet.
9. Make and weld the handle on the mower, considering at the same time the growth. Mount start button on the handle. The lawn-mower is ready to work.
