Modern ladders make of set of various materials. Durability, availability of assembly and maintainability, esthetics and durability become the main requirements to them. Respectively, before ordering ladder framework, it is necessary to decide on material.
Material selection
At the moment the most widespread materials are the tree and metal. The tree as material on the one hand, already in itself bears esthetic function, but in view of features and much lower flexural strength, imposes the restrictions for space of options and decisions for which timber frame construction is chosen as bearing. Use of metal for framework, in turn, considerably expands as the stylistic range in which the ladder is made out, and allows to choose from almost not limited space of options of design. The closed framework
The simplest option of framework which is not demanding special skills for production is the closed framework. In this case all elements of framework, are closed by decorative elements and panels. The only requirement to assembly and the material of framework is conformance to requirements of durability. As a rule, such ladder has frame structure and represents couple of channels connected in several places. After production of main frame the bases for steps are formed of corners. They can both be in framework, and to be imposed on it, in this case the external similarity of stringers is formed of profile metal. The side of similar ladders disappears uniform wooden board or the side panel made of gypsum cardboard. What would not be chosen ladder form – if its framework is hidden by decorative elements and bears especially basic function - it is ladder on the closed framework.
Open framework with two stringers
If the framework bears as envisioned by the owner, not only basic, but also esthetic function, then it is left open. This decision besides obviously increased requirements to exterior of the metal of which the framework or its finishings is made demands also bigger skill from the manufacturer, than the closed framework. Quality of processing of surfaces, seams, accuracy of assembly - all this is open and exposed "on display". If you decide to order framework of ladder of this kind – that be ready to increased, in comparison with the closed option, costs of works and time of production.
The option of open ladder with two stringers (the inclined beams having comb profile) is most often carried out from rectangular profile in section. The form of side section indulges in them then on them mounting of steps, protections and final coloring is already made. For bigger esthetics the similar ladders are carried out on the combined type when on metal framework wooden elements are imposed (steps and podstupennik, handrail).
Open framework with one stringer
As a rule, in this case one supporting girder established on the center to which steps are mounted is used. Are not used by Podstupenniki. The total construction looks very light-weight and air, and, despite durability, can cause strong discomfort in the people suffering from fear of height. This factor should be considered when choosing this kind of ladders.
