1. Too damp maintenance of plant. The root system of orchid consists of three parts: the green root covering root velamen and the growing tip. Fans of orchids most often face such problems, the roots as decaying, drying. Rotting arises generally because of excessive and frequent watering, low indoor temperature, long drying out substrate. The decay which is not noticed in time soon destroys all root. Reanimation of plant without roots is very difficult and seldom comes to an end with good luck.
2. Exterior of rotten roots: brown or black color, when pressing from them follows water, is skimmed without efforts. At detection of such signs remove roots immediately. Even if the root healthy, but in the certain place is available the died-off site, it needs to be cut off. Such back does not bring benefit to plant, and on the contrary, can infect stalks. For cutting of roots take scissors or sharp knife. Surely process tools alcohol as there is always risk to infect roots with fungus. Pound wood charcoal and powder with it the place of cut. With the same purpose it is possible to use activated carbon.
3. Fungal diseases of root system. Fungi often parasitize on the root system of orchids. The most widespread are soil fungi. In small concentration they do not do harm. But as soon as solar lighting will decrease, a lot of moisture will come to substrate, favorable environment for mass reproduction of mushrooms will be created. Some enough 6 hours to corrode root. After defeat of all root system the fungus passes to stalk and leaves. On leaves there are brown and red-brown spots. And later on leaves there are deposits dispute.
4. This disease caused by mushrooms is called rizoktonioz, or brown decay. At its detection get orchid from pot, well wash out roots in warm water, remove rotten places on roots and leaves. Disinfect places of cuts on roots wood charcoal, and on leaves - iodine or brilliant green. Then dry roots and wet in fungicide. In fight with rizoktoniozy have proved such substances as Tolclofosmethyl, Boscalid or Pencycuron. Even if the orchid has not too suffered, do not land it in substrate at once. It is twice one better to process fungicides as mushroom very hardy. The orchid can quietly do without substrate few weeks and more.
5. White web and soil mushrooms. The disease is shown in the form of the thick web which is formed in substrate and also on surface. The cotton balls similar to eggs are quite often formed. And if to dig out substrate and to smell, then it is possible to catch mycelium smell. Leaves, orchid stalk at this disease begin to turn yellow, be wrinkled and become covered by black dry sites. At detection of this fungal disease it is necessary to get orchid from pot, to wash roots with warm water and to replace flower in not infected substrate.
6. If the web has strongly expanded and has infected roots, then wet them for 10-15 minutes in weak solution of fungicide. If solution of fungicide is strongly concentrated, then it will burn gentle roots of plant. It is better to dissolve fungicide in the distilled or filtered water. During the work with mushrooms always wash hands thoroughly. Do not give products of their activity to children and pets as they can be poisonous. Well wash out pot with use of means of disinfection (even toilet will approach). New substrate for orchid has to contain 20% of peat and 15% of wood charcoal. These are adverse substances for development of soil mushrooms. Do not water the replaced orchid the next 5 days. The damp soil - the ideal environment for emergence of soil mushrooms.
7. Frostbite of roots. The frostbite can arise at recently watered plant if you support him at low temperature. On leaves and roots there are wet and slimy sites from which water is quite often emitted. For emergence of such symptoms to orchid 40 minutes are enough to stay at low temperature. The frostbite can arise owing to airing of the room. If cold air has struck all plant, then it is not subject to recovery: throw out orchid. If spots were shown only on several leaves, then accurately cut them to healthy green fabric. Process places of cut wood or activated carbon. Use of other medicines is undesirable.
