This subtropical tree of the Mediterranean and Asia Minor from family mulberry, the close relative of ficus famous as fig, fig, fig and fig, perfectly takes root in apartments. The fig is thermophilic and undemanding to the soil. Take care of it properly – and the plant will even fructify! However, from small sunflower seeds of fig-sukhofrukta at the nonspecialist it will hardly turn out to grow up tree, it is better to take shank.

Instruction
1. Prepare pot: on bottom centimetric layer fill small haydite, after - previously steamed nutritious mix (sheet humus, sand and the turf in the ratio 2:1:1) layer of 6 cm, and then - the calcinated bank sand layer of 3 - 4 cm. Soil should be moistened diligently. For each shank it is necessary to make pole of 3 cm in depth.
2. Dip the lower part of shank into wood ashes. Put shank in pole, densely press the earth fingers, spray plants with water and cover pot (box) with can or polyethylene film for three weeks.
3. In few months it is necessary to replace young plants. Further it is necessary to do it annually within 4 – 5 years, every time increasing capacity approximately by liter. After fig replace in process of branching of root system. Adult trees place not in pots more often, and in wooden boxes.
4. The fig should be contained in the light room and to water much. In room conditions the fig twice a year yields harvest – in the summer and in the fall. In warm season it is desirable to take out plant on balcony or in garden.
