1. Very important correctly select cactus. If there is opportunity, go behind it not to shop, and to greenhouse. Attentively look whether the plant which you want to buy is healthy. It has to have intact prickles, the cactus has to grow exactly.
2. One more condition of success – the correct pot and the good soil. If your cactus long, plant it in the capacity which diameter is equal to half of its height. If plant small, rounded shape, diameter of pot has to be slightly more cactus. Prepare the earth porous, easy, subacidic. It is possible to mix it with bank sand, the turf, wood charcoal and haydite or small splinters of brick. Surely fill haydite layer (3-4 cm) on pot bottom to provide good drainage.
3. Do not water cactus often at all. It is enough to it "to drink" time or two in month in the winter, it is necessary to humidify only top layer of the earth, in the summer – is slightly more often, 1-2 times a week that all earth lump became impregnated with moisture. Be not afraid that your pet will dry up – it happens much less than rotting of roots from excessive watering. But to allow that the earth turned into dry dust, does not follow too. Young cacti should be watered a little more, than adults. And for these plants not the top watering, but immersion of pots on ¾ in the container with water is recommended.
4. Almost all species of cacti love light. Therefore provide to your plant direct sunshine, otherwise it will not blossom. Exception – some species of shade-loving cacti and very young plants which it is necessary pritenyat tissue paper. In the hot summer your cactus will be best of all to grow in the open air. If there is opportunity, take out pot on balcony or even drive in the earth. As a last resort you can air just more often the room in which there is cactus (it is necessary to do it even in the winter).
