How to reel up spiral

The Nikhromovy spiral is basic element of many heating devices today. Nichrom after cooling keeps plasticity therefore the spiral from this material can be removed, changed its form, to adjust to the necessary size. In industrial conditions the winding of spiral is carried out automatically. If you have decided to carry out manual winding in house conditions, then, first of all, you need to make certain minimum calculations.

It is required to you

  • - nikhromovy wire:
  • - copper or aluminum wire;
  • - rod;
  • - machine for manual winding.

Instruction

1. If you not too are interested in parameters of ready spiral in its operating condition, make when winding calculation "approximately". For this purpose pick up necessary number of rounds depending on heating of nikhromovy wire, periodically including spiral in network and increasing or reducing quantity of rounds. This procedure of winding is simple, but can take considerable time; at the same time part of nichrom is spent in vain.

2. For increase in efficiency, accuracy and simplicity of calculation and winding of spiral use the special table (see the drawing). The table allows to calculate winding length round to round depending on diameter of rod on which winding is carried out. Also unit resistance of nichrom and thickness of wire is considered. Data for mains voltage of 220 V are provided in the table.

3. Knowing initial parameters of the nikhromovy wire which is available for you, make simple mathematical proportion. For example, it is required to determine length of winding of nikhromovy spiral from wire 0.3 mm thick at voltage of 127 V. Let's say diameter of rod for winding is equal to 4 mm. According to the table find length of the spiral calculated on voltage of 220 V (it equals 22 cm). Make ratio: 22 cm – 220 V; The X cm - 127 V; Thus: X =127 x 22/220 = 12.7 cm.

4. Having calculated necessary quantity of rounds, make winding on rod. Without cutting off wire, carefully connect nikhromovy spiral to voltage source. Check correctness of the calculations for winding of spiral. Consider also that for the closed spirals length of winding should be increased by third of that value that is given in the table.

5. To provide identical distance between the next rounds, conduct winding in two wires. One of wires – nikhromovy, and as the second use any copper or aluminum wire with diameter equal to necessary gap. Upon termination of winding of spiral accurately wind auxiliary wire.

6. If you want to give to nikhromovy wire necessary tension when winding spiral, warm up it current. For this purpose connect conclusions of source of current to that piece of the reeled-up nikhromovy wire which directly adjoins to rod. The contact joint has to be sliding (it is possible to use coal brushes from the electric motor).
