Strengthening of brickwork armature is carried out in case the building under construction or its separate elements has to maintain heavy loads and also if construction goes in seismically active areas and in places with weak, soft soils. Reinforcing of laying allows to increase bearing capacity of walls and to exclude their deformation.

Instruction
1. First of all choose suitable armature. If you need to strengthen wall that it "has not dispersed" at compression, use steel rods or the mesh metal gauze. For strengthening of columns and piers, the base, floors and overlappings it is necessary to take grid. Bar sizes are defined depending on thickness of brick and the laying.
2. Pay attention to cells of mesh reinforcement: they can be rectangular or square and also zigzag. In principle, you can make reinforcing of laying any grid, but consider that rectangular (or square) the grid is laid through each several ranks of brick, and zigzag – in adjacent ranks up and down layings.
3. Define what section of armature is acceptable for you. It depends on your requirements to reliability of the building. The requirements are higher, the more thickly there has to be grid, but no more than 8 mm. Keep in mind that if you use rough armature, you should impose more solution between ranks of brick, and it weakens laying. Most often there is enough armature thickness in the section of 2.5 - 5 mm.
4. Remember that you have to use identical armature in laying. Change of its diameter or frequency of reinforcing is not allowed.
5. That armature in laying has remained better, recommend it to paint. It is possible to do also without this procedure, but you remember that your grid has to be covered with solution completely, only in this case it will not be exposed to climatic and weather influences and corrosion.
6. Stack armature in every fourth or fifth row. Place zigzag grids in pairs in two adjacent rows, but so that rods in them were perpendicular to each other. If you consider that for the base, for example, it is not enough, think of reinforced concrete construction. Weld separate grids or connect by wire.
7. Try to reinforce columns holders – the steel corners fixed in corners, and connected among themselves by metal levels. By production of finishing work they will be plastered and hidden.
8. Keep in mind that armature has to be "drowned" in solution. The obligatory rule of laying is the requirement to do seams between bricks thickness exceeding diameter of armature on 4 mm.
9. Stack armature so that its ends supported on couple of millimeters surface of column or pier indoors. It is necessary for definition of availability of grid in laying. Subsequently it is zashtukaturivat or if necessary cut off.
