The old sofa can serve still long time to you if you show the design abilities and will be engaged in its alteration. To update sofa, it is not required to change its load-carrying structure at all.

- The screw-driver, set of wrenches, flat-nose pliers, the hammer, the stapler construction, the screw driver, self-tapping screws, PVA glue, the sewing machine, scissors, chalk, fabric for upholstery, dense fabric (coarse calico), tape.
Instruction
1. For simplicity we will consider how it can be remade sofa like "book". First of all, the sofa should be sorted accurately. For this purpose remove armrests. Lift seat of sofa and find bolt which is usually located in several centimeters from corner. Possibly it to be necessary for you the workmate who will hold seat in the lifted state differently it will be difficult for you to reach the place of fastening of bolt.
2. Disconnect the lock connecting back, seat and sidewall. At first unscrew locks from side side bar (frame). Lift back and seat up and invert in the spread-out state so that the upholstery was on floor. It is desirable for part (back, seat and lock) to mark subsequently not to mix at assembly of sofa. Turn off locks.
3. By means of the screw-driver and flat-nose pliers take out brackets which hold old upholstery. Remove covers. Check whether remained in places of fastening of upholstery of the broken brackets. If necessary remove them or hammer subsequently not to be wounded.
4. Having removed fabric, remove old filler. You have to have only springs. Cut out from foam rubber part knife by the framework size. Glue finger joints with joiner's glue or PVA glue. There comes the assembly step.
5. On the spring block pull dense fabric, fixing it on perimeter by small nails or the construction stapler. Apply on fabric and on foam parts glue and paste foam rubber to fabric. The glued joint will not allow foam rubber to move down under upholstery.
6. Paste over with foam rubber also armrests. It is possible to paste on pad foam rubber from sintepon, they will eliminate static charge development between upholstery and foam rubber.
7. Mark old covers chalk from reverse then unstitch seams. Put parts from each cover in separate pile. Spread out the prepared parts on reverse of new upholstery fabric. Transfer contours of old upholstery to new fabric. Cut parts of new upholstery and on in advance made tags stitch them.
8. Put on new covers framework, being guided on traces from brackets on it. Corners should be exposed from the center of part and to upholster in turn in both parties. At first process the long, and then short parties of parts.
9. At assembly of sofa put locks in back according to labels which you had made when dismantling. Put locks on sidewalls. Establish sidewalls in the place of their arrangement. Check reliability of fixture. Just you own hands have repaired sofa, having turned it into the work of art. It was necessary to enjoy fruits of the work.
