Fault of the DVD ROM of the drive is trouble which can become serious hindrance for work of the owner of the personal computer. The faulty drive is not capable to write down and read DVD disks, and it gives a lot of inconvenience, but if you have certain technical skills, you can repair the DVD driver with own hand. The type of repair depends on what became failure cause.
Instruction
1. Most often the DVD driver stops working because of the increased friction in the mechanism of loading of disk, wear of the drive belt, or fault of the laser – the lens of the laser can become soiled and also at the laser the efficiency can decrease. For repair remove the drive from the system unit, having disconnected from it all cables.
2. Take fine wire or office paper clip and push wire tip in technology opening under receiving tray of the drive to nominate him outside. Take tray against the stop then release fastenings of the front panel of the DVD driver.
3. Extend the panel on yourself, and then turn off screws by means of the screw-driver and remove the remained drive panels. Remove fastenings by means of which the tray keeps on the main part of design.
4. Take brush and carefully clean the DVD driver mechanism from dust, and then remove residues of old lubricant by means of piece of pure fabric. Apply fresh silicone lubricant to the right places of the mechanism then change the drive belt for new.
5. Moisten fabric piece in alcohol and accurately wipe the surface of the new drive belt and mechanisms of the drive. Take special cleaning wipe for the equipment and wipe laser lens from dust.
6. If necessary you can adjust laser current size in the drive – for this purpose start the drive without front panel, having established on the carriage with the laser the potentiometer determining the size of its current. Turn the screw determining current size in one and in other party, watching through the Nero Disc Speed program quality of reading disk.
7. When you notice that disks are read in the best way, leave the screw in that situation in which it is. Collect the DVD driver, having put on it the front panel, and close the system unit.
