The susceptibility of these models to frequent breakages appears reverse side of attractive cost. And not all malfunctions manage to be eliminated on guarantee. Therefore often STIHL chainsaws should be repaired independently.

1. First of all define the nature of fault. The most frequent are: break of chain, lack of start, spontaneous switching off after short work, absence at full capacity and oil leaking. The first of the listed breakages is eliminated with replacement of chain. Repair of others will require more time.
2. Check fuel level in gasoline tank. Surely open and close gasoline tank cover even if are sure available of it gasoline. Often the chainsaw is not started because of downtroddenness of the breather – the valve leveling pressure in tank in process of fuel usage. Accurately clean the breather by means of needle, turn out and dry candle and ventilate the combustion chamber. Try to get STIHL again.
3. Check operability of starting gear. If it functions regularly, turn out candle and attentively consider it. Availability of traces of fuel on candle – sign of downtroddenness of the carburetor. In this case it needs to be dismantled and cleaned. Deposit on candle – sign of maloperation of the carburetor or use of low-quality gasoline. Adjust the carburetor or replace the used fuel. Do not forget to check gap of candle and its functionality. If necessary, replace candle with new. Also make sure that the air filter is not hammered and passes air.
4. Examine tsilindroporshnevy group of the engine of the chainsaw. On design the power STIHL unit is very close to the scooter motor. And even the order of dismantling is simple: turn off 4 bolts of head of cylinder and take cylinder from the block. Examine the piston which is in it. In the presence on it edge fins and chips, replace it. Then examine cylinder on which there should be no edge fins or scratches too. The cylinder is under repair boring under the repair size, or replacement assembled with the piston.
5. Examine and check condition of piston rings. They have to have dense, but easy fit on the piston. Insert the piston into cylinder and try to shake it, having undertaken its top point. If it obviously dangles in cylinder, it is sign of wear of the piston. This fault is the reason that the chainsaw does not develop ultimate power.
6. When leaking oil in the STIHL chainsaw check tightness in position of joint of the hose going from oil tank to oil pump. For replacement of this hose it is necessary to disassemble the chainsaw completely.
