In the device of the door lock it is possible to allocate two main parts: confidential (cylinder or other place into which the key is inserted) and executive (crossbars or other elements by means of which the door is locked). In both parts there can be breakages, but most often crossbars or springs of the lock are subject to it.
It is required to you
- screw-driver,
- tweezers,
- lube oil for locks,
- fabric piece,
- kerosene,
- old toothbrush.
Instruction
1. Check operability of the lock (to check at open door). If the lock works – means, problem not in it, and in door case (its reciprocal part). In this case for further operation of the lock the door case should be chiseled.
2. Check work of cylinder out of the lock if at open door the door lock does not work. For this purpose take cylinder. If it works - means, the body of the door lock does not work.
3. Remove by means of the screw-driver the door lock from door, having turned off mounting screws (if scarf), or having passed through opening for key the screw-driver and having put forward the lock (if box lock). Then put the lock on plain surface. Envelop hands and the door lock fabric (not to lose suddenly jumped out spring). By means of the screw-driver turn off screws on cover of the door lock which fix lock housing. Uncover.
4. Remove dirt and dust by means of tweezers. Look what perhaps prevents operation of the lock. Pay attention whether there are bent or broken parts, whether all parts of the door lock on the place. Usually there are three or two springs (can be both flat, and round), two or one levers for lock. At turn the door key pushes the barrier lever up, then outside or inside moves lock. Springs serve for return of the lever into place. Other spring serves for deduction of latch. If in your lock problem in it, it has broken or has jumped out – that in this case address the mechanic. If problem in lock, for example, it was bent – try to correct it, having straightened in vice.
5. Remember the lock device before cleaning of parts. Take out all parts. Wash out (it is desirable in kerosene), clean (the brush quite will be suitable for teeth), carefully wipe. Further grease (lube oil for locks) and install back in the body.
