Not always it is possible to plan initially successfully landings of fruit-trees and berry bushes subsequently not to think of moving some of them to other place. Unfortunately, not all adult plants easily transfer change – they can die. Not so the situation with gooseberry is, this bush is quite unpretentious and very hardy.

1. The gooseberry quite easily adapts to new conditions therefore it is possible to replace even adult bushes, without being afraid of their death. But at the same time nevertheless it is necessary to follow certain rules not to lose part of harvest.
2. It is better to replace gooseberry in the fall, at the end of September beginning of October when the bush gets ready for winter and from it will fall down leaf. Spring change is possible too, but the gooseberry blossoms early enough and it is easy to miss right time. In this case the root system will suffer that will affect subsequently productivity.
3. The bush which needs to be replaced should be prepared in advance that it was convenient to work with it. In most cases gooseberry quite prickly therefore it is necessary to cut off on 2/3 all old branches. Thus the bush will rejuvenate, smaller strain will be experienced by root system and the gooseberry will better take root on the new place. For cutting it is necessary to use secateurs, to protect palms dense gloves, it is not necessary to neglect dense overalls with long sleeves.
4. If the young bush is required to replace, it is necessary to cut off all not quite ripe branches to half – so the gooseberry takes root better and will hurt less. After cutting branches it is necessary to dig round bush on perimeter, having receded on 35-40 cm from the main branches. Too old thick roots should be cut hacksaw, it is possible to use also the axe. After that the bush is accurately rooted out and moved to the new place. The damaged roots need to be powdered with ashes.
5. The second not less important point – preparation of landing hole. For adult plant it is necessary to dig out hole of 60х60х60 cm that all earth lump freely was located in it. If it is going to transfer several bushes, the distance between them has to be not less than 1.5 meters.
6. The landing hole requires the nutritious mix consisting of 3 buckets of humus or peat, 1 liter of wood ashes, 100-150 gr. superphosphate and 40-50 gr. potash fertilizer. Part of this mix needs to be poured out on hole bottom, to spill properly water (2-3 buckets) and to arrange bush, trying as it is possible to straighten roots more naturally.
7. It is necessary to fill with the remained nutritious mix (to mix with the earth) all free space, trying to bury root neck of plant at 7-10 cm. Then it is necessary to spill thoroughly roots to condense soil. For this purpose it will be required to pour out not less than four buckets of water in hole. In conclusion it is necessary to zamulchirovat the earth humus, peat or the rerotting sawdust. During autumn landing it will serve as additional insurance from destruction by frost of bush.
