1. After the Hippeastrum has prospered and its seeds have ripened, delete flower arrow, cutting off to the basis, and transfer plant to accumulation of energy to the following blossoming. Practically each bulb seeks to prosper once again, releasing arrow at once behind the first, but it is possible to allow it only to those flowers which bulb in the diameter approaches 10 cm, otherwise it will be difficult to Hippeastrum to worry winter. After blossoming it is necessary to water often plant and to weekly introduce nitrogen fertilizers that up to the end the Hippeastrum has grown up as much as possible leaves, and its bulb has increased in the diameter. In midland the Hippeastrum begins to be prepared for dormant period from the middle of August. Watering is reduced, cut off the turning yellow leaves. When leaves on bulb remains 1-2, stop watering completely. If in week the leaves do not fall down, cut off them at the roots and get bulb from pot. Pack into 2-3 layers of paper or old newspapers and remove in the fridge, in vegetables compartment.
2. Send to wintering of bulb of Hippeastrum in October-November and get for change in March. This plant does not need spacious pot as in scope the Hippeastrum will raise leaves instead of flowers. Spacious pots are used for cultivation of seedling the first 5-7 years after landing and for resuscitation of bulbs in bad condition. For healthy and strong bulb which was just removed from wintering and put in hope for blossoming, distance from it to walls of pot should not exceed 1 cm. The bulb before landing is examined, when finding rotten and wet spots cut off them sharp knife to healthy fabric, processing cuts brilliant green. Delete the dried roots and put in the prepared pot.
3. If on bulb children were formed, remove them and put separately since the plant with children will not blossom. On pot bottom for Hippeastrum put layer of drainage of 2-3 cm, on it - layer of the fertile soil which is slightly moistened. 4. Within 10-14 days after landing the Hippeastrum is not watered that it has released flower arrow. Begin to water only when buds reveal. When watering the plant passes into growth stage at once, and the set of leaves does not leave forces on flower for this reason the Hippeastrum is not watered so long. Then growth of Hippeastrum and care for it continues according to the same scheme - intensive watering and fertilizing, and get bulb from pot in the fall to put on wintering and to land in the spring.
