Thanks to unusual form and bright coloring of flowers these plants are used for disembarkation to beds, and hygrophilous types are irreplaceable at decoration of reservoirs. The iris rhizome pretty fast expands, but at the same time its old part dies off. For preservation of landings of a decorative type these plants replace once in three-four years.

Instruction

1. If you are going to combine change of plant and its reproduction, begin works in half-month after the end of blossoming. It is possible to replace irises with the intact rhizome and lump of the earth at any time, some gardeners make it even with the blossoming plants.

2. Dig out bush together with roots and cut rhizome on pieces ten centimeters long. Each of pieces has to have created fan of leaves and bunch of roots which should be cut to seven centimeters of length. Of course, the iris will grow new roots, but right after change the plant in vertical position will help to support part of old root system.

3. Carefully examine rhizome in the course of division. If the begun to rot parts are found, remove them to healthy fabric, and wet rhizome on an hour and a half in potassium permanganate solution.

4. For reduction of evaporation cut off iris leaves, having left length about ten-fifteen centimeters. Powder cuts on rhizomes powder of wood charcoal and dry the received allotments in the sun within three hours.

5. Pick up the place for disembarkation of allotments. You will need to find the site with the friable subacidic soil and good lighting. In shadow the irises quickly let grow powerful foliage, but poorly blossom. The required level of soil moisture depends on species of plant which you are going to plant. Bearded irises badly grow on the rehumidified soil, and the iris marsh and iris smooth can be landed on bottom of artificial reservoir.

6. Plant iris allotments in soil, without burying rhizome more, than at three centimeters. Leave interval of thirty-forty centimeters in size between allotments. Direct the cut roots vertically down, powder with the earth and condense the soil. After landing the plant has to keep vertical position steadily.

7. Water irises right after landing. In hot weather slightly attract allotments, and four days later water plants once again. When watering try not to pour water on rhizome.
