Kalamondin, or tsitrofortunella, despite the deceptive exterior, does not belong to citrus. This plant belongs to family of rutic and it is from Southeast Asia.

Instruction

1. Kalamondin have received thanks to crossing of tangerine and the Japanese kumquat, small evergreen plant with small leaves. Leaves can have bright green coloring or spottiness, both that and others publish pleasant citrus aroma. Tsitrofortunella flowers white and very fragrant, and fruits in form and coloring remind tangerines, but diameter does not exceed them 3-4 cm. At the ripened fruits it is easily possible to separate peel from pulp, at the same time sour and many seeds, and peel sweet and nice to the taste contain pulp.

2. If to support conditions necessary for plant, kalamondin with ease grows in the apartment and postpones winterings. The plant will have very decorative appearance, to blossom continuously and along with that to fructify, but for this purpose behind tsitrofortunelly leaving is necessary. One of important conditions of leaving - the soil suitable flower, pot and timely change.

3. Replace kalamondina at the end of February when at plant the dormant period just about ends. Young plants are replaced in pot slightly more than the size annually, and by adults of times in 2-3 years. Choosing pot for change, it is necessary to watch that it was not much more previous. The optimum size will be if the old pot freely can be put in new, and the gap between their walls will make no more than 2 cm.

4. It is better if the new pot repeats previous in form and material - the plant should not spend time for adaptation. It is more preferable to choose to midland pots from plastic, but not from clay as clay well keeps both heat, and moisture. Plant roots in off-season will suffer from cold, and during heating season - from heat. Plastic pots accept temperature of the substrate placed in them and therefore roots of plant are in bigger comfort.

5. Availability in pot of drainage layer at least 1 cm thick is obligatory. For drainage it is possible to use haydite or pebble. Soil for change can be made of sheet humus, the cespitose earth and the rerotting manure with bank sand in equal proportions or to take ready soil for citrus.

6. Kalamondin does not love change with removal of old substrate therefore it is better to pass earth lump from old pot in new completely, having filled with new substrate free space. For this purpose the pot from tsitrofortunelly is put on one side and accurate percussions soil separates from walls. Having taken plant for trunk from the basis, take out it from old pot and put in new with the haydite which is previously put at the bottom and small layer of earth approximately in 2-3 cm. Having established kalamondin on the center of new pot, accurately fill the emptiness formed at walls, slightly stamping soil. After that the plant is watered and put on the constant place.
