In room culture the lemon is grown up more than 300 years. Trees please owners not only the foliage, but also well blossom and yield fruits. However for the normal growth and development of plant it is necessary to follow some rules. One of the most important is timely change (transfer). Because the root system of lemon is limited to the sizes of pot, trees are recommended to be replaced often. So 2-3-year plants replace two times during the summer. Trees at the age of 3-4 years replace annually, and 4-7 summer lemons – in year. You should not make change at the time of budding, setting and growth of fruits.
- New pot of the corresponding volume, drainage mix, soil.
1. Pick up ware (pot, tub) corresponding to age of tree. It is possible to put lemon in clay, plastic or wooden container. The main condition – availability at the bottom of pot of drainage hole. For 1-2 summer saplings diameter of pot in upper part has to be not less than 20-30 cm. For 3-4 summer – not less than 30 cm. For 5-6 summer – 30-35 cm. For plants which are more than 7 years old - not less than 45 cm. As signal to change the bad gain, yellowing of leaves and souring of the soil can also serve in pot.
2. Prepare new soil mix. Structure: 1 parts of bank clean sand, 1 part of the sheet cespitose earth and 1 part of the rerotting manure or compost. In special shops it is possible to buy ready soil mix for citrus fruit crops.
3. On bottom of the prepared capacity put crock the convex party up and fill up drainage mix with layer not less than 3 cm. It will interfere with stagnation of water in pot. From above drainage put several handfuls of the soil.
4. Accurately take out plant with earth lump from old pot. It is impossible to destroy earth lump at change, otherwise the plant will be long hurt or at all will die. It is possible to skim only accurately the earth over roots.
5. Examine tree roots. Accurately cut off the backs all broken, shrunk sharp knife. Do not pull and do not try to untangle them. When undercutting roots it is worth and truncating sprouts of plant a little bit.
6. Establish lemon in new pot on the prepared earth layer. Holding tree for trunk with one hand, fill up earth mix in free interval between pot and old earth lump. Well condense the earth. You watch that the root neck (place where the stipitate passes into roots) was not covered with earth.
7. Well water the replaced plant and attract it from direct sunshine for several days. Put pot so that the lemon has reached former position in relation to lighting.
