Orchids belong to the most unusual plants from all what can be grown up in house conditions. Many of them are epiphytes, that is grow not in soil, and on other plants from which receive only support. In house conditions of orchid land in the baskets or pots with good ventilation filled with friable substrate.

- - pine bark;
- - wood charcoal;
- - sphagnum.
Instruction
1. Orchids are not recommended to be replaced too often. However if substrate in which the epifitny orchid grows has almost completely decayed why roots of plant risk to lose good ventilation and to decay, the plant should be replaced even if it blossoms. Especially often there is need of change of the blossoming phalaenopsis which are nearly the type of orchids, most popular with fans of room crop production.
2. Epifitny orchids should be replaced before they begin the period of growth of roots. To define whether it is worth being engaged in change, look at plant roots. If they are painted in light, slightly yellowish color, the plant can be replaced. Green coloring of the ends of roots means that they have begun to eat with risk them to injure at change that is undesirable.
3. At change the plant should be separated from old substrate. That to make it, take out flower from pot. If the orchid has been put in clay pot with rough surface, its roots have managed to cling to clay and they should be separated carefully, helping themselves flat wooden blade. If it turns out to break accurately pot, it is possible to leave its fragments on roots.
4. Place orchid roots in water of room temperature. It will help you to separate residues of old substrate from plant.
5. Prepare new substrate. For this purpose take pieces of pine bark and boil them within twenty minutes. Cool, dry bark and chop it on small parts.
6. Wet the crushed substrate for two-three hours in fertilizer solution for orchids. It is the best of all to do fertilizer solution for soaking of bark in half of normal concentration. Press bark to bottom of capacity in which she is killed some cargo.
7. Sometimes for orchids add the washed-out sand, peat, fallen leaves and wood charcoal to substrate.
8. Take out orchid from water. You should not tear off fragments of old substrate which have not separated from roots. Examine roots and remove the begun to rot their parts to healthy fabric. It should be done by means of sharp knife, and cuts should be powdered wood charcoal. Within several hours dry plant roots.
9. On bottom of capacity which you have picked up for orchid put part of bark. Place plant in pot and carefully fill up roots with residues of substrate. Strengthen flower so that it was not unsteady in pot, but strongly it is not necessary to stamp bark. Cover upper part of substrate with sphagnum.
10. Spray plant and place it for few weeks in small greenery. Accurately replaced blossoming orchid has to postpone all these procedures without special consequences.
